Chapter 93

Once inside, he released my hand and closed the door, locking it before turning back to me. My heart was pounding and I wasn’t sure if it was from the fast walk or the way he was devouring me with a look.

I started walking backwards even though I wanted to be closer to him. He began to stalk me, a predator hunting their prey, my blood was boiling from that look.

“You should have stayed away,” his voice was low and lethal.

Stepping back to keep the few feet between us, I kept my eyes on his red ones. “I don’t like being avoided.”

“Even if it’s for your own good?” He sidestepped around the chair.

Why was I moving away from him when all I could think of was my body against his? “According to who?”

“Me.”

That was it. One word growled in his alpha tone and heat shot through my whole body. I heard myself gasp when his eyes moved slowly down my body and back up to my face. His look held me captive and I stopped moving. Swallowing, I tried to hide the way I was shaking. He didn’t scare me, even though a part of my brain told me I should be running as fast as I could the other way. “Why would it be for my own good?” I asked breathlessly.

Troy stopped right in front of me, standing so close I could feel his body heat without us touching. “Because,” he reached out and tucked the hair behind my ear, “I can’t control myself around you.”

I shivered as his fingers lightly grazed my jaw. “You’d never hurt me…” His rough finger sliding across my bottom lip stopped all thought of speaking.

“In your world, I’m a demon…”

“We’re not in my world.” I rushed to tell him, as if he was unaware. If he didn’t touch or kiss me soon I was going to vibrate right out of my own skin.

“No.” He pulled me up against his body, tipping my head back with his thumb under my jaw. “We’re not.”

Any thought I had in my head was completely erased when his mouth covered mine and kissed me with such force my knees went weak. The fire that had been simmering ignited when his tongue plundered into my mouth.

Growling deep in his throat, he reached down and grasped the back of my thighs to boost me higher on his body. I clung to his neck, my feet hanging in the air and relished the feel of his hard body crushing mine.

When he pulled his mouth away, I gasped for air as his lips moved down over my throat. I could feel his sharp teeth grazing against my skin and it sent more heat pooling between my thighs. I moaned when he nipped my shoulder and felt the cloth from my shirt being tugged away from my shoulder.

Releasing his neck, I leaned back and pulled the shirt up my body, only to hear the material being ripped. With my arms still in the sleeves, I ran my hands down his chest tugging the material up as I went. My hands connected with the heated flesh of his stomach and I wanted to purr like a cat as the firm muscles contracted beneath my touch.

With a growl of annoyance, he released me and yanked the shirt over his head. His chest was a thing of beauty. Hard sculpted muscles under the soft skin quivered at my touch. Leaning forward, I ran my tongue over a nipple and was rewarded with a groan.

From there it was a blur of motion. Clothes being shredded by his clawed hands, if I’d had any sense at all I would have shrieked when claws appeared at the end of his fingers, but all I thought, yes more.

When he lifted me up against his naked body, I wrapped my legs around him and gasped where our bodies connected. If it weren’t for his strong hands holding me in place I would have impaled myself on him and rode like a wild woman.

I was momentarily surprised to realize a soft mattress was underneath me and we weren’t standing any longer. My whole being was consumed with the feelings of his hands and mouth on me and my skin against his.

As he thrust into my body he growled against my ear. “No control…”

Wrapping my legs tight around him, I gripped his hair and kept him from moving away again. “I don’t want your control.” I bit into the hard shoulder and found both my hands above my head held tight in one of his. Normally I’d fight this, I didn’t like giving up control, but I all I could think of was more. Please.

Troy’s other hand moved down and grasped my knee, pushing it against his waist as he shoved inside me again. “Can’t…” his thrust was hard and fast now, “stop...”

“Don’t…” I groaned against him mouth when it crushed my own.

My whole body ignited, burning for the man above me. He played my body in ways I didn’t know was possible and I thought for sure I’d actually catch fire, not that I cared at the moment.

I’d had sex before, pretty good sex if the truth be told. Nothing could ever compare to what I was feeling at this moment. I didn’t know where I started and he ended, we were joined from our mouths down.

I swear the whole room started to shake as I climbed higher in the ecstasy of his touch. I briefly thought I’m going to die and I can’t wait. Noises I’d never made in my life were coming out of my mouth and I couldn’t find the focus to care. I was being consumed. I wanted to be consumed.

I felt his teeth sink into my neck and screamed out as my whole body felt the release of my orgasm. My body convulsing around him made him speed up and join our bodies with such a force I doubted I’d ever walk again.

With an animalistic growl from his throat, he stiffened on top of me and groaned against my ear, my body spasmed again right along with him.

The room was spinning and my body felt weightless. Had I died? With a soft kiss against my throat, he lifted his weight from me. Neither of us spoke, not that I could have formed words at this moment. If I’d had the strength, I would have pulled the cover over me and slept right where I was. There was no way I’d be walking back to my room, or anywhere, for that matter. Not for several hours at least. The shocking part was I really didn’t care. If I had an ounce of strength left I would have climbed on top of him and purred like a contented cat.

My body was humming in the most delicious way. I was completely contented, with a satisfying burn from the exertion of the foreplay and the actual sex. Sex wasn’t even the best way to describe it. I’d had sex before and what we had just done didn’t even fit into the same category.

Closing my eyes, I just accepted that my brain was mush and that was okay with me. My muscles tingled, some burned and then I realized my one arm was really burning. My left arm.

Opening my eyes, I lifted my hand off the bed and held it in the air over my face. The sensation intensified and the dawning of what was happening hit me like ice water.

Bolting up, I watched as lines and markings appeared all down my arm. If it had been on anyone else I would have thought, nice ink, but in this case there was nothing nice about it.

“Oh my god! What…”

Troy jerked beside me and rolled to his side. “Are you…” His eyes bulged when he looked at my arm. With a curse, he shifted and sat up on the side of the bed.

I blinked over and over, refocusing on my arm, hoping it would look different if I kept doing it long enough. Grabbing the sheet, I wrapped it around me and turned to look at the man beside me.

Troy sat there looking at his hand like he couldn’t believe what he saw.

“What did you do?” I struggled to my knees.

“I didn’t do it,” he said with doubt in his voice.

I held my palm out to him and dared him to say it again.

“Alright, I didn’t mean to do it. I didn’t know…” he looked back down at his arm.

I was up off the bed, looking around for my clothes, and then I remembered I wouldn’t be putting those back on. Tripping over the sheet, I found what was left of my jeans, pulled the phone and raptor free from them. “What do you mean you didn’t know? How could you not know it was happening?”

He stood up, not bothered at all by his nakedness. I even paused to admire it briefly before the burning in my arm reminded me that was how I got in this mess.

He looked me up and down. “I was a little preoccupied.” He strode over and stood in front of me, breathing in my face. “I was having you no matter what. You didn’t seem to disagree at the time,” he growled in a low tone.

Throwing my arms up, I grabbed the sheet and paced around in a going nowhere circle. “Oh my god! We do it once and I’m tied to you forever.”

He frowned, looking confused. “You can’t say…”

“If you say one word about prophecy, I swear I will kill you, right here, right now.”

He held up his hands and shook his head. I felt like I was overreacting and then I spotted the matching marks along his entire arm, I was not overreacting.

With a growl, I spun around, bunching up the sheet I stomped over to the door.

“Daxx, you can’t…”

I slammed the door showing him what I couldn’t do. Looking around, I tried to get my bearings so I could find my way back to my own room. What I was doing once I got there I had no idea.

Walking quickly, clinging to the sheet to keep it around me and off the floor I went down the first hall that looked familiar. When I rounded the corner I almost whined in relief when I recognized it as the hallway to my room.

Quinton came out of a door and then stopped, the smile fading off his face. He rushed to me and I could see his eyes registering. I was in a sheet, probably not looking my sleekest and grasped in my hand was my raptor. His eyes widened as they looked down my arm.

“Relax,” I hissed quietly. “He lives.” Pulling the sheet up, I continued toward my door. “For now.”
