Content Guidelines
Novelo is a platform for writers and readers to share and enjoy creative writing. To ensure a positive experience for all members of our community, we have developed these content guidelines to help you understand the types of content that are acceptable and unacceptable on Novelo.
Original Content
Novelo is a platform for original creative writing. Any and all writing, book covers, images or anything you upload and publish on Novelo must be original and must be owned by you. Any story found to be in contravention of this rule is subject to be removed from the site.
Acceptable and Unacceptable Content
These content standards apply to any and all material which you contribute to our Site. Content refers to text, video, photographs and audio submitted by Authors for purchase by customers which may or may not attract a fee (Content), and to any interactive services associated with it.
The Content Standards must be complied with in spirit as well as to the letter. The standards apply to each part of any Content as well as to its whole.
Novelo will determine, in its discretion, whether a Content breaches the Content Standards.
Content must:
- Be accurate (where it states facts).
- Be genuinely held (where it states opinions).
- Comply with the law applicable in England and Wales and in any country from which it is posted.
Content must not:
- Be defamatory of any person.
- Be obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory in contravention of any legal standards. We cannot control what people find obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory, however if they contravene standards in English law then we have the right to remove it.
- Intentionally bully, insult, intimidate or humiliate.
- Include any content which promote or encourage child sexual abuse.
- Intentionally encourage or incite violence.
- Intentionally incite discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age. Stories about discrimination are, of course, allowed, however we reserve the right to remove content if we find that it is intentionally promoting or glorifying discrimination where it is not part of the story.
- Encourage or give instructions on self-harm.
- Infringe any copyright, database right or trade mark of any other person.
- Be likely to deceive any person.
- Promote any illegal content or activity.
- Be in contempt of court.
- Be threatening, abusive or invade another's privacy.
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person.
- Give the impression that the Content emanates from Novelo, if this is not the case.
- Advocate, promote, incite any party to commit, or assist any unlawful or criminal act such as (by way of example only) copyright infringement or computer misuse.
- Contain a statement which you know or believe, or have reasonable grounds for believing, that members of the public to whom the statement is, or is to be, published are likely to understand as a direct or indirect encouragement or other inducement to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
We also heavily advise users to publish and rate their content in a manner that is in line with the age guidelines as detailed athttps://www.fictionratings.com/.
Author's Content
All authors own the content that they post. Novelo does not endorse any content posted by our authors and their views do not represent our views.
Enforcement
Novelo reserves the right to remove any content that violates these guidelines or any content that we feel is inappropriate, as well as to suspend or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly violate these guidelines. We may also report illegal activities to law enforcement authorities.
If you see any content on Novelo that violates these guidelines, please report it to us immediately by using the report tool or emailing hello@novelo.com. Our community depends on all of us to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for writers and readers.
