Alice was a little nervous with none of it poking through her cool facade. This was her first D&D game night. She was going along for the bring your friend night to get more people into it. She walked to the address that was given meeting her friend there. She thought she got lost when walking up to the door.

The house was like a modern castle with the front window looking like a tower. Alice walked up to the door knocking, hoping, that her friend answered the door. Instead was this shorter boy standing in a blue robe with a white fluff trim and a gold crown with jewels all around it. His eyes were electric blue and light blond hair. He gave her the impression that he was a bookworm marshmallow.

There was a flash around them. A picture of times past. She was holding his hands in front of a large room of people. He was in something very similar to what she first saw. His ring was red, and she had a matching one in blue. He was in wedding formal with his suit being white. It was nothing more then a flash, something like de/ja\ vu.

“Are you here for someone?” He asked seemingly snapping out of his own head.

“Um yeah. James invited me.” She said blinking a few times. He smiled, it felt like he lit a candle right in her chest.

“You must Alice. He said you would be coming. I’m a little surprised that he didn’t bring Kate.” He opened the door and walked inside again.

“She couldn’t make it tonight. So I got to fill in instead.” Alice looked around at the huge house. Castle was definitely the right word for it.

“We are happy to have you. Maybe if you enjoy tonight then you can come back, and we can still meet Kate.” They started walking through the house making their way to a staircase that is going downstairs. As you walked down the wide spiral the wood started morphing into stone. The lights turned into electric torches.

They walked into the main room at the end of the small hall of doors. There was this giant table that was covered with things like forests, oceans, and other biomes. There was boards and props to outlines these places that looked like they could be moved around. At one end of the table was a throne, the dungeon masters seat. Around the tables was James and a few other people that Alice didn’t know.

“Hey you made it.” James said standing up in full costume.

“I did. I didn’t know people would be all dressed up.” She said sitting between James and the dungeon master, who happened to be the boy that got the door.

“Since you are just starting out. We weren’t sure if your clothes would line up with the character. You are welcome to dress up next time we get together.” The dungeon master said handing her a create a character sheet. Alice took that paper the binder that was given with it filling out all the spaces.

Everyone settled and the game begun. It was several hours into the next day when the session came to a finish with everyone full of pizza and soda. Everyone was saying goodbye and planning the next session. James went off to talk with the rest of the group. Alice stayed behind while the dungeon master wrapped up his notes.

“What do you think of the game Ace?” He asked sounding half distracted by his writing.

“I think it’s really fun. I hope I will be invited back sometime.” She said looking at the others talking across the room from the couple.

“I would expect it. You are part of the troop now. I also expect you to dress up.” The dungeon master said. Alice looked down to see that he was smirking.

“And if I don’t?” She fired back turning around to face him. He looked up from his writing now with a nice smile.

“You will have to roll a D4 for disadvantage for every interaction. If anyone does something as a group they will do the same.” Alice smirked as she sat down beside him again.

“I bet I can beat every monster you have even with the disadvantage.” He looked up at her from his notes without lifting his head.

“Ten buck says you won’t.” He said writing a little slower.

“Your on star boy.” She said before standing up and walking out of the room James following. They left the house and started walking in the warm summer air. This was going to make Friday night so much more fun.

‘Star boy.’ That was a nickname that he had with some people but no one Alice would have contact with. She didn’t even know what his name was. He staired at the staircase as he tried to prosses the strange pull the girl had. Something happened to them when he opened the door for her just a few hours ago. Maybe that was just his overactive imagination.

“You all good there Rigel?” Theodor asked as the rest of the group left.

“Huh, oh yeah. . . Actually no. You know the girl James invited through any of your circles?” Theo looked around the room like he was looking for the answer.

“I don’t think so. Why, you wondering if she is running with the wrong crowd?” Theo slid into the seat that Alice was using as Rigel picked up on his teasing.

“Wait, before you even start-”

“Ooo, Star boy has a crush.” Theo sang.

“Shut up I do not. It’s just that it’s not common to have a girl come out to D&D night. It’s nice to have someone other than you ruffians to play with.” Rigel poked back. Theo put his hand on his chest pulling back in mock offence.

“I, my good sir, am a man of high class. I knew love could cloud your vision, but I am disappointed that you would be so blind.” Theo stood up and started collecting recycling from around the room. Rigel went back to writing his notes.

The room was quiet for a few minutes before Rigel asked, “Ok but do you know if she’s attached to anyone?” Theo smirked.

“Knew it, I knew it. I will check around tomorrow. Guess we are going to have the next session in the not so distant future?” Rigel blushed.

“We have it once a week anyways. I am not changing that schedule.” Theo hummed from across the room.

“Yeah sure. Totally not going to invite her back over to teach her more of the game. Actually scratch that, I think you wouldn’t do that just so you can answer her questions during game night.” Even in the yellow glow around the room you could clearly see Rigel turning red in the face. Meeting your soul mate once was a miracle that everyone try to achieve. Meeting them again, in a different, as different people. You will never find anyone else.
