The Rebel woke up faster then they should have. Today was the day they would be riding back home. The army of just two legions would have to be taken through the main way. Any short cut was far to small to take that many people. If they left when they should have they would be just on the other side of the valley by night fall.
That was if everything wasn't in chaos. First was breakfast when the princess actually did get sick and was unable to travel. They said she was going to pull through after a few days. It was just enough stress on the King to make him keep making mistakes. Something the Rebel kept to themself through the whole breakfast.
The morning was also rough for everyone else with things being misplaced the day before. It was perfect chaos that the Rebel got to sit back and watch. That sitting was done on top of a horse. Probably the only good thing to come out of the experience.
"Have you ever been on a horse?" The Instructor asked.
"Not one single time." The Rebel shook their head. The instructor nodded hoping they had some experience to work with. It took days to learn the basics and she needed to teach them to someone in a matter of hours. The King was going to have her head for this.
"Right then, I will teach you from the start and see if you can't get to some of the more detailed things by the end." She said with the most friendly smile she could manage.
"Follow my lead and you will do just fine." The Rebel and instructor were facing each other.
"Just put your foot up in the stirrup." She said putting the correct foot in the hold. The Rebel mirrored her exactly following every motion she made. That was good since she didn't explain anything else about getting on the horse. She automatically got on the horse. Right after she realized her mistake the Rebel popped up in front of her on the other horse.
"Why don't we just walk around the arena just to get use to it?" The Rebel nodded as they followed. They started with just a walk. The Rebel was being jostled side to side till they learned to stabiles themself. The instructor saw this and picked up the pace. The Rebel was a little hesitant to do so but took the advice of the Prince.
They accidently pulled the reins a little too hard. The rebel found themself being thrown into the horn of the saddle violently as the horse stopped just as quick. The instructor had to hide her smile quickly before trotting over beside them.
"Try to keep your grip on the reins a little looser. If you need something to hold tightly onto then I would suggest the horn of the saddle." She pointed to the piece that had created a soon to be deep bruise in his torso. The rest of the lesson went rather well with little hiccups happening again.
There was one point the instructor had to slow down their horse as they forgot how to do it when in a full sprint. That was the most terrifying thing that the Rebel personally went through. There was still plenty of time for something else to take the spot. After they caught their breath and got the hang of riding again their mother walked up to the ring.
It was getting into the late hours of the morning. She was probably here to get them to move out. They got down from their horse letting the instructor to care of them for the time being.
"Did you see me mom?" They said running to the fence she was on the other side of. It was something amazing that they learned to do. Something that even she said was difficult they learned in a matter of a few hours. The excitement was exhilarating.
"Yes I did. It looks like you were having fun up there."
"It was the best thing I have ever done if a little scary at times. I can't wait to show Rigel what I learned." As soon as the words were out of their mouth they knew they fucked up.
"I, um..." They got chills as the Rebel leader learned her child still had plans to be with the royal brat.
"Right then. We have to get ready to move out." She didn't let it show what she was planning. It would have been better to have them at the meeting to deal with the Prince and have proof of their life. Now she was just going to have to do it without them their. She walked them over to the castle stopping just inside the main door. She clicked her fingers and a couple of her men came forward to hold the young Rebel .
"I told you to leave her. You will never be with someone like that. I refuse. Since you can't make your own choices then I have no choice then to make it for you." She clicked her fingers again. They were pulled away from the door as she watched. Now she was wondering what was in the letter that they sent.
She should have checked it over even if she wouldn't have found the message hidden in the lines. The Rebel was pulled down hall, after hall. Stairs too, fighting every step of the way. This only landed them up in the same room they were locked into the first day they were here.
They ended up back against the far wall and cuffed with the chain being a lot tighter. When the other rebels left the room they started cursing and trying to get themself free. It was no use, there was nothing they could do. They certainly tried their hardest. They couldn't even lay down like before.
They started breaking down hoping that the Prince would not only be able to save the kingdom but now them as well. There was nothing they could do now but wait for something to happen. Hopelessly stuck all alone in a locked room. The hours passed by as the Rebel let out all the pent up emotions. It had been a really stressful few days. They were waiting to have the Prince by their side. Everything was better with him around.
Right now they were just cold and in pain. They had both been holding in a lot of emotions over the past few days making sure everything else was stable before letting themselves take a deep breath. The Rebel didn't even want to know how much the Prince was going to hurt when he finally took the break that he needed. The Rebel took that chance that they could and cried the hours away.
As the sun started to set, "Oh stop blubbering like a baby. We still have work to do." The princess said. She sounded very ill and yet was able to bite all the same. She unlocked the door quickly moving to unlock their cuffs.
"You don't have much time. You need to get out there and find a stable kid to get you a horse. You need to be at that meeting." She said looking pail and on deaths door.
"What about you, you look awful." They said as they both walked out to the hall. The princess looked to see if the coast is clear.
"I feel awful. I will be back to full health in a few days. Death is a little more permanent." She said walking through the halls finding the side door that goes out to the stables.
"What the hell do you mean by that?" She led them though twists and turns before getting both of them to the outside the stable in sight. "I mean your mom is planning to get rid of that Prince of yours permanently with you right there. I'm pretty sure that part of her plan had not changed since you won't be going." She pushed them towards the stables as she disappeared back inside.
The Rebel had half a mind to go back in and asked her more. The rest of them was running towards the stables since they already could be late. Thankfully the instructor had not left for home yet.
"Oh good your still here." They said catching their breath.
"Yeah I am. I thought you were going to leave with the others?" she wondered thinking she saw them leave earlier.
"Long story. Short version, I need a horse." They said in better control of their breath now.
"Yeah ok, sure." She said getting the horse they were riding earlier ready again.
"Wait really, just like that?" They asked helping her.
"Yeah, I can deny that I was here since I should have been home an hour ago. You are going to steal a horse yourself. It would be better to make sure that I do the tack, so they don't get hurt." She shrugged fitting the bridle on the horses face. The horse leaning into it to help.
"Right, thank you for this. I would never want to try and end up hurting them." The Rebel referenced the horse. It had a beautiful black coat with mane to match.
"No problem, just be careful out there. And try not to over work her." The instructor said finishing up the fitting.
"I will make sure, unfortunately we are on a bit of a crunch."
"I'm sure she will be able to get you wherever you are going just when you need to." The Rebel nodded quickly getting in the saddle and heading off to battle.
