The Rebel expected to wake up in this perfect world that they stumbled into. They did wake up in the prince’s bed, but it felt different; more substantial. The first thing that caught their attention was the sheets that they felt under their hands.
The Rebel looked around looking for anything out of place. Not only did everything seem to be where it was but it felt like it was all normal. That except for the prince. He was sitting in front of an unlit fireplace drinking tea.
“What are you doing love?” They asked moving towards the edge of the bed. The Prince got up quickly turning to face the bed. His face was bruised just like before, the final confirmation that this was real.
“I, um…” The Prince stuttered worrying his hands on his cup.
He screws up his face before asking, “Tell me what I am thinking right now?” He sounded slightly panicked. The Rebel thought about it for a second before responding with.
“How good your tea was this morning?” The Rebel wondered what is up with him as the Prince let out a breath of relief. The Prince set down his cup walking over and cuddling up with the Rebel before they had a chance to get out of bed. “Oh, Hi.” The Rebel said before putting their arms around the Prince.
“I had the best and worst dream ever and I don’t know how to feel about it.” He sounded like he was on the verge of tears. The Rebel started rubbing the princes back offering some comfort.
“Why don’t you tell me what it was about, and I can help.” The Prince sniffled and nodded needing a second before he could calm down. Then he was able to start telling the Rebel about his dream. The beautiful cabin, their mother being nicer, all the wedding preparation in vague details.
By the time he was done the Prince was starting to get worked up again that he felt all those things. The problem he was have was that it wasn’t the Rebel. It was a fake and felt wrong now that he knew there was a difference.
“It’s ok baby. It was the version of me your mind conjured up to help you not be so lonely. Sounds like it got pretty close to the real thing.” They kissed the top of the Prince’s head.
“The real me would never have let you near that woman again.” They were still angry at the sight of the colouring on the Prince’s face. The Rebel took a breath before they started talking about their dream reality they were stuck in. Neither of them knew how long they were gone from the real world yet.
There was no way they could have been unconscious for several days. Not without waking up extremely hungry. After the Rebel finished with their last sleep in the other world there was a knock at the door. It was the head cook carrying in a platter of food doing a check in on the two.
“Thank you jasmine.” The Prince said climbing out of the Rebel’s lap. The woman put the tray down on the vanity before asking the Prince if he was ok. This was the first time that she was seeing the bruise on his face. Turns out that it was more off putting to those who had not known where it came from.
“Yes I am, just a very long night after a very long week.”
“You know, no one would blame you two if you didn’t get back to work right away. Everything is still being rebuilt. As long as you two are around we will be fine till harvest needs to start.”
“I am aware, but it would be nicer to have it all just done. Beside having the transfer period be easy.”
“Careful love.” The Rebel got out of bed to stand beside the prince.
“Last time we thought something was easy we almost ended up with a war.” The Prince giggles before he puts his arm around the rebel’s waist.
“I’m sure all the people that would declare war on us have been defused right now. If anything does happen I’m sure they will need a good week to put it all together anyways.” The Rebel bent down to kiss the Prince on the lips.
“If you say so love, what are we going to do first the wedding or the coronation?” The Rebel asked as they walked over to the tray of food that had been left for the both of them. There was fruit and meat and a bit of bread along with two cups of water.
“I think we should have them at the same time. Would save on everything we need to get together. Including time that we may or may not have.”
He turned to Jasmine, “Less work for the rest of the staff as well. Thank you very much for the tray.” The woman chuckled turning to the door.
“After a day and a half I expect you in the dinning room as well. Thankfully all the other rulers decided to stick around see if they can’t help smooth things out while you two were out of it. That being said we will be very grateful for you two to get put in place.” She closed the door as the other two left in the room processed the information that they had just received.
“Well I didn’t expect the other allies to stick around. That also did not feel like a day and a half.” The Prince said moving towards the food.
“You’re telling me. I got about three days off.”
The Prince picked up a piece of fruit, “I think I got five total.”
“So, what are we going to start with for preparation?” The Rebel asked thinking of all the list of things they would have to get in order.
“I would think we start with figuring out all the things we need. Then order them from the longest wait to the shortest. Start at the top and work our way down.”
“Right, let’s get on that.” That is where things started to get tough as they started thinking of all the things that would need to be done. It started with major things getting down to very small and minor things. By the time they made it to the end of their patients the sun had already gone down, and they started a fire.
“Ok, ok, ok.” The Rebel said standing over the back of one of the chairs. They had started pacing around a few minutes after starting the fire.
“Do we really need to pick the cutlery that will be used, or can we just let the who ever sets the table choose. Why does it even matter in the first place?” The Prince huffed putting down the quill.
“It is just as important as how we get the benches into throne room for the ceremony.” The Rebel groaned into their hands starting to get a headache.
“Alright, let’s drop both of them and call it done.”
“We are certainly not done.” The princes tone raised sounding offended. As if the Rebel had just called it quits halfway through the planning.
“We still have to organise the list in how long it will all take.”
“Fine, let’s start from the top again. I will get the paper.” The Prince started thinking how long it would take to get or make each thing. The Rebel grabbed another piece of paper off the desk. It was only another hour before they had the list all ready. Or rather lists as the Prince decided to split things up.
Make things happen fast if they focused on different things. It would also help them still surprise each other on the day. In the morning they would start on their own times. Hopefully this would be the last time either of them had to do this, it was getting repetitive.
