The Rebel woke up late. Obviously later then the Prince as they found themself alone. The Prince made it clear the night before that he wasn’t to split up the list to not only make it less work but also faster not wanting to keep the other royals longer then needed. The worst part about their list would be the flowers. The Rebel wanted very specific flowers for this day so that is where they went first.
The castle did have a royal garden, all they had to do was find the gardener. Something that was way more easier said then done. Even when the Rebel asked around to where the gardener could be she would move before the Rebel could get there. They finally cornered her by a few rose bushes after running from the last location.
“You, are really, not easy, to find.” They managed between huffs of breath.
“That is by design. I don’t normally want to be found. What do you want kid?” She said pruning the roses. We need flowers for the coronation the day after tomorrow. I would like to think you are the best person to go to for something like that.”
“I am, first a question. What is the message that you want to create with this arrangement?” The Rebel must have shown the confusion they felt as the gardener let out a huff. She rolled her eyes then went back to the flowers.
“There is a language in flowers. You choose different ones depending on what message you want to send.” The Rebel rolled their eyes at the half answers.
“I don’t, something about loyalty and love. Can you do that?”
“What kind of love do you want to communicate?”
“I don’t know, we are getting married and he’s going to become king. I didn’t know I would get this much of a choice.” They were exasperated at this point. In their dream it just sort of sorted itself out. It was certainly different thinking of the meaning of the flowers. The gardener stopped with the roses before walking off again.
“Hey wait!” The Rebel quickly caught up with her. “Where are you going?”
“Getting you the flowers you need. I'm going to make every group different. There are a lot of flowers that come to mind for the ceremonies you are talking about.” She walked into a large green house with the Rebel right behind her. It was full of flowers of all different shapes and sizes.
She takes a cart and fills it with ten different vases that were just clear glass. She started pulling flowers picking this red starburst looking flower. “This is Amaryllis, it stands for pride.” The Rebel started making a mental list of all the things that they would mean. It would seem that the gardener would just go with what she thought would fit best. Pride was definitely something they wanted to communicate.
They were proud of everything both them and the Prince had been through. The next was a deep green tree looking thing, this was confirmed by the name. “Bay tree branches, to start the reign off with some glory of the achievements you two have already had.” The next plant that she pulled was another tree branch with small orange fruit attached to it. “Bittersweet, stands for truth.”
The next was an actual flower again. A white spiky one with a yellow middle. Like a more regal version of a daisy. “For courage and devotion I’m putting Edelweiss in the mix.” The next was one that the Rebel recognised at their mother would put it above the fire, holly. “A wish for domestic happiness.” The next was another flower. Who knew putting bouquets together would involve so many trees and berries.
It’s purple and like the middle is reaching for the sky pushing it’s petals out to get some extra height. “Iris can have a whole host of meanings, the ones that I hope will come across is faith, trust, and hope.” They were well over half way through the green house with the vases almost filled. The gardener were grabbing a couple of each plant putting them into different vases.
There was a couple that were filled already and some that were almost. The next flower that she took was this white flower with a burst of yellow in the middle. “Myrtle is love in a marriage which I think is appropriate.” She said pointedly at the Rebel even though there was on one else around. They rolled their eyes at the jab, not everyone knew how to communicate feelings to your partner.
There was so many that the Rebel didn’t know where to start. It was clear the gardener had a handle on it. Something that the Rebel wouldn’t admit to being glad about. “It also stands for good luck.” They were at the back of the green house now with the gardener taking a tower like red flower. “Salvia has a couple different meanings based on the colour that you put in. The red means forever mine.”
The gardener grabbed two different flowers filling the rest of the vases. In the left she held out “Valerian for readiness.” In the right hand was “Zinnia that means lasting affection and the thoughts of absent friends. For the people that probably can’t make it since this is such short notice.”
With the last flowers in the vases the Rebel was standing in front of twenty vases. It was going to be more then enough for the room the Prince and the Rebel were using they would need to decorate. The throne room and the dining hall. The ball room for that night was going to be just ribbons and light.
“I’m going to keep them in here so they don’t start dying on you. You can get someone to pick them up the afternoon before to set up. They should still look just as good for the ceremony.” She said ushering them out of the large room. The Rebel didn’t realize how hot it was in there before they stepped into the afternoon sun.
There was still setting up the dance hall the Rebel had to do. The Prince would be taking care of the throne room and the dining hall. There was several decorations that were put in storage that the Rebel was let in on. Taking a look at the crates of things the royal blue ribbon was the biggest thing that caught their eye.
There was also a crystallized glass ball with nine candle placements inside. It was the same size as the rebels body top to bottom. Putting the candles in it would make the light scatter all over. The Prince would do a check up on everything the next day. Just to make sure the Rebel didn’t miss anything as the Rebel would do the same to him.
This was the one thing the Rebel would hide from him as a serprise. This instruction was given to the servants that were setting up the decorations. The ball would be covered with a cloth after the candles were put in. It would be able to be pulled away for the first dance between the couple. As the Rebel settled for the night they were so excited for their serprise.
