The Rebel settled near the window looking up at the stars. Tomorrow would be another one of those days. Everything is on the line; this time they had extraordinarily little prep time compared to the last. It didn't help that they couldn't even prepare together.
"I'm going to go talk to Leah for a little bit before coming back. You should head to bed soon; tomorrow is going to be an early morning now that we need you to teach you to ride." The Knight said before leaving the room again. The Rebel walked around the room. Not trying to snoop but to stretch out before tomorrow.
There was nothing worse then this waiting time. They hated that they had to do this not once but twice in only several days. Their head filled with thoughts about what was to come. Both good and bad, what would happen after that since they overlooked that last time. They were so lost in thought that they didn't notice when the Knight walked into the room.
The Knight ignored the Rebel right back as he changed into his bed clothes. It was clear he was trying to hide the new purple mark on his neck. The Knight took clothes not only for the night but also for the next day out. The rebel migrated to the small side room settling on the bed. It was clear that the Rebel wasn't going to sleep any time soon.
They were hopeful that this would not be to the detriment of tomorrows events. The Rebel paced a few more minutes around the smaller room before going over to the window. It was small but it looked like you could open it. It took a few seconds before they could figure out how to just that. There was a warm, calm breeze that blew by the window. They took a deep breath of the air before speaking.
"Hey star. How was your day?" They asked the air. There was this funny feeling they got. It was a bit of ridiculousness talking to the wind of all things. It was also a hurt they had never felt before, a sadness that was deeper then anything that they felt. There was only a day till the couple would get to reunite but this was something different. The last chance for them to get on the same page.
"You can do this, I know it. I trust you will do what is best for our kingdom." The ache that they felt lifted a little the warm breeze blowing in their face. That could just be their own nervousness easing.
"I promise I didn't run. I'm working on getting back. I need you to be strong for me. Please be smart as well." The Rebel said with a little chuckle as the thought of the Prince taking offence to the last comment.
"It's going to be ok star. I'm going to do everything I can on my side. You just got to do what you do from your side. It all worked out last time, you have to trust me." The Rebel looked out at the stars thinking that the Prince was looking up at the same ones that they were.
Who knew taking that throne would be so difficult. The Rebel kept thinking of how their first meeting would go down. What they should say, or do, or wait for the Prince to make the first move. That would be after they defuse the situation of war. There was so many things that could fuck up this plan it was worrying.
"Good night love. Please sleep well." The Rebel closed the window and moved into their own room for the night. Or that was the plan before remembering what the Knight did. They changed and settled into the bed getting the last few hours of the night to sleep. It was going to be an early night no matter what happened the next day.
They thought about how little sleep the Prince had gotten during all of this. He didn't even sleep when the Rebel managed to get a few hours at night. They were not hoping for any more of a challenge right now. If it worked they would get that horse painting commissioned for the Prince.
