When the Prince woke up he started on his list. He decided to split it up in rooms since the ceremonies were pretty much the same. They would be in the same place for both normally. He was up first hating to leave the Rebel alone after how many times they woke up without each other. It would only be a couple more days at most before they can start settling into this new normal.
The Prince was working on throne room mostly as he had looked into the coronation process more since hearing the rebel plan. It was less customisable then weddings as there were certain things that needed to be specific. There was so many little things just made it little bit more difficult then it needed to be.
He made sure to get the words that the Rebel needed to memories back to the room to practise by end of day. He decided to start with the kitchen visiting with Jasmine to go over the banquet for that night. He remembered a few of the rebels favorite foods that they were able to bring together.
“Don’t you worry about it. We do this a lot more then you would expect. Just trust everyone to do their jobs and it will all turn out ok.” That was all the comfort the Prince needed until he got to the candles that they would be using. They were going to have a swirled blue and red candle as those were the Prince’s and Rebel’s colours.
Something that if melted would look good to be mixed together. When he went to go to the local candle maker in town that worked in one of the parts that had been spared from the destruction. When he walked in it was nothing like that was in his dreams. There was candles covering every wall with some that were even dripping from the ceiling on hooks.
“I’ll be right with you.” A voice called from the back of the shop. After a few seconds of waiting at the front the voice came into view. It was a, man? Woman? It was honestly hard to tell with their hair and voice landing somewhere that could be seen from both ways. Even when the Rebel rejected referring to themself as male; the Prince had never met anyone that could be both and neither at the same time.
“I’m Charlie, what can I do you for today?” They leaned on the counter that was covered in different colours along with their apron.
“Ah, yes. I am here for a special candle on short notice. I was wondering if you are able to do a mix of colours?” The person chuckled before standing up and grabbing a few from behind them.
“Can I mix colours? You are talking to the best candle maker in the world here.” They set down three different candles. One that was larger around that was mostly white with purple dots all through out it. The second was tall and exactly what the Prince was looking for. A yellow and green that twisted together perfectly.
Then there was just a plane black candle as the third. The person behind the counter started lighting them. There was the normal orange flame for the big candle. A blue tinted flame for the second and a green flame on the black candle. The shock must have registered on his face as it caused the shop keeper to laugh again.
“I am so sorry, but that reaction never gets old for me. It’s caused by mixing other things when making the wick and wax of the candle that makes it burn a different colour. So which one do you want, some of them might take a little longer to get the colours right.” The Prince finding himself again cleared his throat before speaking.
“Yes, I was going to ask for blue and red in the style of the second candle but the third has me intrigued.”
“I can do both red and blue flame. The blue might take a little bit longer as I am out of the ingredients needed to make it burn that colour. What day would you need said candle?”
“The day of tomorrow I believe.” The person took a deep breath looking around the shop.
“I would say your best bet would be the second option or a red flame for the third.” They pulled out a tray from under the counter that held a small block of wax of each of the colours that were offered. There was so many to choose from it was an amazing selection. The Prince was able to pick out the blue that matched the royals perfectly.
“Right, and if I mess up can you give me the red so I can make that swirl. It might not be exact but it will be better then nothing. Totally free of charge.”
“That is very kind of you.” The Prince said picking out the red he thought worked the best for the rebel. It was just as vibrant at they had seen it, he know getting colour like that was not easy. It was almost a shame that they were making candles and not something more long lasting.
“Right, thank you. What are you celebrating if I may ask?”
“I am getting married. The red and blue are me and my partners favourite colours.”
“That is so cute. And I are you going to pick this up or should I just drop it off?” They took out a quill and started writing what the Prince asked for.
“Dropping off would be lovely. Tomorrow at the ten bell strikes during the day. Right as the castle gate would be greatly appreciated.” The person was dotting and crossing only half listening.
“Right, drop off at the castle gate.” They wrote it down before looking back at the prince.
“I will be done by tomorrow. Thank you for stopping by.” The Prince walked out of the shop after paying half for the piece. The other half would be given on delivery. The Prince thought that a bright red flame on a blue candle fit perfectly with what he felt. He quickly ran through the rest of his list. Thankfully there was not much left for him to get on order.
It was dinner time before the Prince saw the Rebel again. They sat across from each other as the rest of the royals were sitting down at the other end. They were talking about the celebration that was going to happen the day after tomorrow. The Prince was bursting with feelings both positive and negative.
Both were the perfect mix that ran through his veins. This was a big deal but was it any bigger then what they had already been thought. It was amazing how life around them could make sure a big event feel like another day of the week. The one things he was really excited about was the serprise he had for the Rebel.
