They were recovering well from the exhaustion of the past few days. Hopefully they would both be back to a normal schedule. Even with all the recovery it was far to early to be waking up. The Prince left first with the Rebel walking in the opposite direction to their room. It was facing away from where the early sun was rising.
They had to work by candlelight for a bit longer before the sun got high enough. They started by putting on their shirt and pants. Both are black with the pants being on the tighter side and the shirt being looser. Their sleaves only go down to their elbow. They had two coats made, one to replace the one that was showing signs of wear that they tried on first.
It looked exactly the same with the blue now on the inside instead of the red. It only looked different if you put them side by side without looking at the clear wear and tear. After everything looked good they took it off and put on the coat that they would be wearing during the special day. Now that the sun had moved enough to fill the room it made the blue and red on their coat glow against the black.
The top is the same as the other coat with blue trim. There is a belt that got hidden under the loose shirt. The bottom of the coat flowed outward. It had a similar structure to a slim gown that went down to the middle of their calf. The front still open making it free for them to move as normal.
The trim around it the red that was on their old coat. The top of the coat had a flap that went around the top of it hiding ties that attached the skirt part to the top. The Rebel had everything done and were able to slip off to the dance hall before they were to walk down the isle. Everything for their serprise was looking good.
The hooks had been installed and the ball connected to them. As soon as the candles were put in it, it would be raised, and the rest of the candles would be put out. They would take a few minutes for cake for the candles inside the ball were removed. After that they lifted it with no light to be taken down with the rest of the decorations.
The rest of the candles lit, and the dance will proceed as normal. The windows had curtains to black them out to give the illusion of night. Something that was important to not throw off the light. They also made sure to check the dining room where everything was coming into place.
Something that was abnormal about the wedding was knot tying ceremony. This was instead of changing rings as that would take a lot more time to get together. The ends would be burned together over a candle sealing them together. Then the couple would be walked up to the thrones and be crowned as rulers.
It was an interesting feeling they had thinking of that picture. They started to breathe very quickly at the thought of it. There was so much riding on this day going perfect. The Rebel stood in front of the door calming their heart as much as possible before the doors open in front them.
The rebels panic melted away as they stepped into the room. They were aware that people were standing up and the music was louder. Still the only thing they could see was the Prince. He always looked cute with innocents and knowledge in his eyes. Now they looked more grown the pale blue deepening with the black part blown out several sizes.
You could still see some of the colouring around the bottom of his eye lid. The fitting in his clothes fit him a lot better than the Rebel could have guessed. He truly looked like royalty standing at the front. The way the light shined from behind him it made his hair glow like they had seen it do a couple times now. They were pulled out of their assessment with the officiant starting.
“We are here today is witness young love coming out of it’s cocoon. Soon we hope it will sore into the future leading us in peace and justice. Do we have any vows from the couple?” The Rebel was both touched and sad at the Prince’s words.
“You do so much for me already. Without your planning the kingdom would have suffered so much more. We wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t because of your brilliant ideas. You care so much putting others before you.
You have an imagination I could only wish to possess. You have done just as much for me as I have done for you. We will go back and forth forever never really being even. Everything I do for you is out of love. I am grateful to be the subject of yours.”
The Rebel was tearing up as well with the love they felt spilling over. The only reason the Prince had not done as much as the Rebel is because he was being held back by circumstances. It would be a great thing to see when he was no longer being held back like that.
“Now we will move to the tying of the knot.” The officiant pulled out a long red and blue woven piece of cloth. A perfect mix of the couple as they moved to hold hands. They were bound in the middle with the ribbon loosely connecting them.
“With this cloth I bind the two in love from now till the end of their days.” Now he was going to lite the knot on fire with the coating on the string melting together. The candle he pulled over, it was blue which made the Rebel think it was normal for this. They gasped when they saw the brilliant red colour of the flame. With the knot melted the officiant ended the ceremony.
“I now pronounce you wedded in the eyes of both the law and the people. You may kiss.” The kiss was filled with passion that the Rebel hoped wasn’t all just the emotion of the circumstances around them. They pulled back from each other moving to the follow the officiant to the thrones. They moved still bound by one hand before the Prince had to let go to received his birth right. The officiant pulled out the scepter.
“In the name of the safety and good will of the people of the land you have been nominated to take the royal throne. Do you understand?”
“I wish to serve the people of all their needs, I wish to create prosperity and good fortune for all my days.” Both the Prince and the Rebel had been coached through words they were to say in response. Something about first impressions were to be given. They didn’t understand it till they heard the way the Prince said the words. It was like he was saying it like a prophecy and not just a promise.
Right before the Rebel’s eyes he was crowned. Everyone in the room knowing they kingdom would be in good hands. He looked perfect sitting in the throne like that. It seemed to be where he belonged. The title seemed so much more fitting then prince. The room filled with the thunder of the people. The crowd a mix of town people and the royals that were still visiting.
The Rebel took a deeper breath then normal as they took their turn. This was it, the last chance to run away of responsibility. To run from everything their mother wanted from them. They sealed themself as they gave the knot to the attending. This was not only for the good of the kingdom but to help the new king. It was different then what she, it had to be. This was their choice; not hers.
“You have be nominated to stand by the kings side through all the good and bad. Serving as his second in commend as consort of the realm. Do you accept this responsibility?” The Rebel took a deep breath before saying the words they were taught finding every single one of them to be true.
“Through war and famine, through peace and prosperity, I will stand both day and night.” The officiant gave a concealed gesture, and the Rebel knelt. They felt the weight of the scepter on their shoulders.
“By the will of the people I now name you the consort of the land.” The weight of responsibly being placed on them. It felt different from then their mother placed the world on their shoulders. It was something they were proud to carry, and they wouldn’t have to do it alone. The weight of the crown only cemented those feelings as they rose and settled in the other throne. The thunder returning for them as they looked at the people gathered there.
“I now would like to introduce the new king and his consort.” They both stood up and started out of the room. The music got louder and sang of prosperity and happiness. The Rebel couldn’t agree with those sentiments more. They were a little worried about the dance that was to come up so soon. Hopefully it would go off without a hitch.
The new titles would be a little to adjust to, but it was nothing they couldn’t handle. As long as his now husband was beside them. They would both get through what ever the future has to offer. The Rebel kept their intake of food on the lighter side as to not make dancing uncomfortable. When the couple walked into the dance hall the first thing the Rebel noticed was the large cake that was sitting in one of the corners.
“Dear, what is that?” The Prince whispered in a hushed tone as they walked further into the room. The Rebel grinned remembering the candle surprise the Prince pulled earlier.
“That is my candle.” The Rebel said pulling the Prince into the middle of the dance floor. The rest of the room was filled with the other people. The candles around went out until all that was left was the little light being let out from the ball. They got into position with the Rebel following the Prince’s lead.
It didn’t take much to learn that this would insure less mishaps to happen during the dance. The black covering was pulled away; it was better then the Rebel could have guessed. Bright dots of light littered the room and spun a little as the ball rotated. The musician picked up and the couple started moving around. It was like watching two waterlilies on a pond. Both moving together by the music around them.
All the Rebel could focus on was the Prince thankful that they choose to let him lead. The song ended and the Rebel moved them towards the cake. They took a big piece now that the couple wouldn’t be dancing for the rest of the night. It would just be socializing. There was congratulations for the wedding a wishes for the future rule. The Rebel was interested in hearing how the candle was made and what other colours that could be added.
“I think we will be back at your store in the future.” The Rebel said before the candle maker had to leave for the night. The power of the people was amazing. After both the Prince and the Rebel were done with people they left the dance hall. They walked down the hall lost in their own minds. The whole day was perfect down to the last details that the Rebel couldn’t have orchestrated if they tried. Every memory precious and would be treasured. A fairy tale with a happy ending the Rebel would try to keep forever.
