Athena POV
It was a long battle & I could hear everything up above. I knew when the Lycans were involved because all we could hear was shaking from above from the lights. I knew my grandfather was fighting & having him here with us made me feel safer and that we would be alright. He ordered a couple of Lycans to stay behind for extra protection since my dad was down, but I was still down from having Lyra & my wolf was still trying to grow stronger. We knew we had bought ourselves a few days. We all decided to eat in the dining hall as one big pack, especially after the safety circle had been initiated.
We were all now required to stay at the pack house especially if we were really far from the pack house. This made it easier for the cooks anyways, because they were able to keep count of how many people they were feeding this way. Adam requested that the cooks Finished up cooking as we all set up the dining room. Nothing like getting to eat after a long fight. Before we ate dinner we toasted to new friends & began the initiation and dinner. My husband Adam went into the middle of the room & he had them all say.... " I solemnly swear to serve this pack till I die.
I will not have contact with a rogue unless given instructions to deliver a message or a rogue turns out to be my mate. I will not talk without approval from my Alpha or Luna, or interact with any rogues unless they approach me or attack me first. I am one with the Redwood pack & I shall keep my Luna, Alpha, & their family safe." said all of the newly added pack members. I walked up to the middle handing over Lyra to Adam to make my toast. I would like to welcome the new pack members. I know some of you are siblings & have abandoned the rest of your family, & for that I am sorry & know that is hard.
I want you to know you are welcome here, & I am here to help you if you need help adjusting. Thank you for giving us a chance & I hope you enjoy the pack. We have much to offer & I hope you stay with us & find happiness here. Let's Eat and enjoy our night. Dinner was done & we all sat down to eat, & some of the others left to switch shifts with the others. It had been a long day into the night & we all needed some rest.
The Lycans still stayed with my wolves so that we could all stay safe. Athena told me she knew this was not over and that there was another battle. This was going to be a great opportunity for them & I really hoped that the kids could all go to school. The redwood pack had homeschooling programs & so we all decided a day it would be a wise idea to get them enrolled & we could get them finished with schooling or started. I was looking forward to getting to help this crowd of young children. I wanted them to be happy & have a bright future.
Alpha Ron POV
I love my daughter to the moon & back, & I know she wanted to help this new group of rogue wolves, but I had a feeling something more was going on. I wanted to really know what was going on. I had a feeling that some of the rogues were up to no good & I wanted to talk to all the new members of this pack though before I made any rash choices and told Adam. My first task was to inform Adam when we got home. I knew this was a conversation he would not like but I just had a nagging feeling that something wasn't right. We all went home but never got to talk, so I decided to save it for another day.
Tomorrow we would start more training, but this time we would have some Lycan trainers so if we came across a rogue lycan we could still protect our own. I stayed with Lyra in her room just in case anyone tried something. I wanted her to be safe. I made sure her diaper was clean, she was fed once more, & in her bed. She slept so soundly I couldn't help but watch her as she slept. She Was so tiny & I was so happy for her to be here.
I knew Athena needed the rest as the moon Goddess has plans for her & I knew all was to happen soon. I wasn't looking forward to this war but if it meant keeping the peace I would do whatever I had to keep Lyra safe & Athena. I know my daughter in some ways but I have no clue how far this will go. I just hoped it wouldn't be as bad. Tomorrow was going to be another story.
I didn't want to just blow all of this up into Adams face, but I have to let him know what to watch for. When I fell asleep it was with one hand on Lyra in-between the bars on her crib. When morning came I could hear the rooster cockadoodledooing & boy was it annoying. My wolf wanted to go & eat that rooster for waking us up and scaring Lyra. I got up & started to get around & having a foot still broken didn't feel the greatest. I had an appointment to get looked at & I looked forward to getting my leg looked at again so I could get the cast off.
However, this was just a progress appointment to see how far my foot has healed. Just as I finished getting around Adam came in to check on Lyra. It was his turn, & he picked her up ever so gently laying her on the changing table. He changed her & all I could do was just watch Lyra's face as she had made a sad face and then when Adam had a dry diaper on her she smiled & cooed grabbing her toes. I loved Lyra just as much as I loved my granddaughter. She reminded me so much of Athena & the photos of her mom that I had. I miss my wife everyday, & I have still kept myself strong because of Athena.
Thanks to Athena I now had a granddaughter to enjoy holding and they both reminded me of my wife so much. They both had brown hair, but her mother had black hair, and it was wavy. If had been any wavier then she would have had curls. All I could do was smile at her the entire time she was changed. She liked the silly faces I made to keep her occupied with happiness so Adam could change her without her rolling around and moving around so wild like. This is what I loved most about being a grandpa, I got to see her cute little reactions and I could not wait to see what what in store for the rest of the years to come.
