Adam POV


Just as Lyra, Alpha Ron, and Athena came back to the living room there was a knock on the front door. Athena peeked through the hole on the door and saw her grandpa for the first time. She opened the door and jumped into the big burly man's arms and shouted "GRANDPA!" He carried her back into the house and several of his pack members stood outside while he and a few came in. Athena was worn out and decided to lay Lyra down and go to bed especially since no one had gone to bed yet. Everyone thought this was a good idea so that all involved could have a clear and sound mind when they were talking. It had already been a long day for everyone, and a long trip for Athena's grandfather.


I stayed up a little longer to make more arrangements for the Lycan King and his men. Athena's body was weak from taking so much on the last few days that she nearly collapsed. Thankfully her grandpa was closer to her and caught her. I carried her to our bedroom and I checked on Lyra to make sure she was all good. I had 2 guest rooms in my house set up and One was for the Lycan King himself and Athena's father. His Beta and Gamma were to stand guard in the living room, so I had the couch made up for one and luckily we had just bought a new cot and we set that one up for the other one.


We needed rest and we all knew it. The other four men said they would stand guard outside so some of my men could go to sleep. They liked the night shift anyways and they knew my men could use some rest. Thank goodness the Lycan King brought more than 6 guys. One of his men he brought was one of five trainers that he had, and he planned on helping strengthen our fighting skills. The next day would be our New day and once everyone was settled I went to bed.


When I woke up at probably 10 a.m. and Athena was in the bathroom sick and throwing up from all the stress. I got her calmed down I called our chef to see if he could make some soup for her to help her recover. I gently carried her back to bed and let her sleep. I made my way to Lyra's room only to find she was not there. My wolf Shane and I were so furious and scared. I heard her small giggle from the living room and Athena's dad playing peek-a-boo back.


Sir please let me know next time that you have Lyra. You had both my wolf and I scared to death that someone took her or something else happened to her. "Oh Adam, I am so sorry. I was awake early this morning and I heard her crying. She was hungry and needed a diaper change. Athena got up to take care of her so you could rest since you stayed up late to help her grandfather. She told me that Lyra had a pre-made bottle in the fridge.


I told her to go back to bed so she could rest. I just wanted to help, to let you and Athena sleep in a little." Alpha Ron said gently. Oh, thank you I appreciate it, just let me know next time please. You just had my wolf Shane and I scared something happened to her. Athena is sick by the way, I think it has something to do with all the stress. I have ordered some soup to help her recover. She is asleep back in bed for now.


We need to let her rest and do things at her own pace. It's only been a few weeks since she had Lyra, but she still needs time to heal as if she was human only. You heard in the letter that she does not have her full wolf yet. She will be ok, the Lycan King needs to know though too, because he has guards outside. I am working on making arrangements to switch off shifts. I want everyone to get some rest, attend additional training, and we can still stay safe.


I'm going to my office and seeing what I can do there on my end. Have the Lycan King meet me there in 20 minutes. Athena's dad Alpha Ron of course nodded his head and knew his job. He was staying to protect the house, Lyra, and Athena. They were key to winning this war. It had been almost 3 months since we mated and marked and then had Lyra. Time was passing too fast. I kiss Lyra on the head and walk out the door and make my way to my office.


My beta met me there are of course the Lycan king was already waiting for their for me as well, but that was only because I stopped in the cafeteria to get a cup of coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. After what felt like forever we came up with a plan that 3 of my pack members per one Lycan on border patrols. Someone in Athena and Ron's old pack sabotaged that letter from Athena's mother. That means they know about the secret about Lyra and Athena and our future children.This secret was supposed to stay a secret to all except very few. We need to find out who, because this is a danger to all. I started to even sift through my pack members to remove those who would betray and imprison them.


Lycan King POV


I stood at the door of this cabin that was surrounded by werewolves. Something had gone down for them to have to call me out here and help amp up their security measures. When I knocked on the door out came my granddaughter. She hugged me and I dreamed of this for so long. I have always wanted to meet my granddaughter for a long time, but I promised to stay my distance unless it was deemed necessary. This pack needed my help and I had no idea that my granddaughter was mated to the alpha here until she answered the door.


Athena looks so much like her mother and Lyra looks like Athena. I couldn't believe how beautiful she was I heard that I had a grandson and that he passed away 13 hours after birth. I knew there was a prophecy that was to come, but I was not sure how soon it would go into effect. As time passed on I had to help this pack knowing that my granddaughter and great granddaughter were now here. Not only that the rogues needed to be stopped, who is to say they wont do this to another pack. "Athena was one of the best gift I had gotten from my daughter before she passed.


Female werewolves are not supposed to shift while pregnant as it can harm the baby, but the night my daughter was shot with a silver bullet I don't know why, but I was able to feel when she was shot. She had no choice but to change so she could save Athena's life. Protecting Athena and giving her the future to have Lyra was a must." said the Lycan King. I was not going to let Adam lose his love like Ron and I lost my daughter. When you lose a family member it's hard and not all wolves can feel it but some can. However, if it's your mate you can feel it and it hurts like hell to lose a mate.


So to keep them safe, Adam and I agreed that per 3 werewolves there would be a lycan for boarder patrol. We would have four Lycans on guard at the house to keep Ron, Athena, and Lyra safe. This pack went rogue and killed their leader, blamed Athena's pack she has now, and now they are coming after them for something they did not do. They were targeted and now taking it out on anyone who was trying to protect them or stop them. I now had to step in, because even if they are rogue wolves they still must listen to their Lycan King. I was not worried about a Successor, because I had a brother who I shared the responsibilities of Lycan King, and he had a son, but after the news I just got yesterday I did not know how long that would last, both were surprisingly ill and we had no idea with what.


I would love for Athena to meet her uncle and cousin if they ever get better. If things get too bad I will have to call them even though they are sick they wont be able to fight but they would be able to send down extra help first class. I sent messages encryption only my brother and I would understand in case anyone tried to listen in or hack our phones. My brother and I have used his since we were kids and it has worked for a long time so we kept it around. As I finish sending my update I see Joe, Adams Beta bringing the contaminated letter that had the silver in it. Lycans have a more powerful sense of smell.


I was able to smell a scent on it that I had not smelled in a very very very long time. Hey Adam where did Ron get these from? "Um, I'm not sure i'll have to ask him where he had them at. Why do you ask?" said Adam. Well I smelled a scent on it that I was able to smell when I arrived, but I haven't smelled it in many years. Now my suspicions are confirmed that it's her.


I don't remember the last place I smelled it. You may want to keep all of your staff away from Athena, and you might want to investigate your female wolves. I watched as Adam looked at his Beta, Joe and they nodded their heads in unison. Now it was time to put our theories to the test and start investigating all the female wolves. Something was not right and I couldn't place this scent. This would be a long process, but I hoped I could expedite it.


I sent my brother what was happening and that I needed more men to be sent my way urgently. He Immediately called and I put him on speaker phone and we told him what all we found out. He put in a rush flight first class for about a dozen more Lycans. Now it was just the waiting game and I looked forward to finding out more in the waiting process. This was going to be one hell of a process. Once the meeting was done I recruited a few of my men to help finish the underground bunker to keep everyone safe before the next storm hit in a few days.


One of the ways to get in was being built on an extension to the main house where some of the werewolves who didn't have huge families stayed. They were building in a safe room that would lead down into the bunker and Adam even showed me the plan. It was going to be nice to have once it was finished. I was also going to be 20 feet below the ground, and have insulation and more. It would help a lot to keep this pack safe. This is one task we have to make sure is finished before the war is started.


They already made sure the hidden exits were in place at Adam and Athena's house so I felt more relieved there and they even had items they would place down in the bunker to help everyone get by. Adam wouldn't let anyone buy groceries for them from now on too, just until we figured everything out. With me here now more than ever we have to make sure to keep Athena close and she had to have an escort at all times. Athena had to stay with the others simply because she had her wolf, but her wolf was not fully awakened to her full potential yet. To keep her away from the other werewolves Their was a private bunker made just for her any Lyra, but no one knew about it but Adam, and his beta Joe because of the way they built it, no one would see them in the bunker or see her go in.This was and added safety measure especially since this fight was going to be the fight of our lives, no matter how many Lycans we had, especially since rouges play dirty.
