Lycan King Carl POV
After our meeting I went back to Athena and Adam's house to sit and get to see my great granddaughter for the first time. I got to play with Lyra peek- a- boo and coo with her. She was so beautiful, and I just could not believe how much my wife, daughter, and granddaughter were in her. From my understanding all three girls are part of a prophecy. My daughter fulfilled hers when she died to save Athena and became the next Moon Goddess. Most Lycan Princesses Can become a Moon Goddess. After all there is 1 for each element in the supernatural world. This is because when a werewolf gets a gift, the mood goddess is in control of that element or gift and can tell them how to use that gift appropriately.
My granddaughter Athena was the exception, because she was meant to be something different according to my wife. From my understanding Athena was going to be the moon goddess that surpasses all the elemental ones. She was going to be the moon goddess queen, or be reincarnated into the next gargoyle Queen who could connect with the arch angel Micheal. There was a higher purpose for Athena when she passed I just was confused and didn't understand till now how important she was until now. While I sat with Lyra While Ron slept in the recliner with his leg propped up while Adam and Athena made dinner I couldn't help but notice how much peace she gave me. This extra gift was eternal peace.
Her other powers would come in when she was older. Once Dinner was finished Athena took Lyra to feed her and I assumed it was to feed her in privacy. About 25 minutes later she came back out with Lyra trying to get her to burp with no luck. I took Lyra and told Athena and Adam to eat, as I wanted time with my great grand daughter. Lyra fell asleep in my arms while I watched the news. After the news was done I laid her down in her crib to sleep for a while.
Athena was cleaning up the kitchen when I came back out to the living room from going to the bathroom. I smiled at her and said, let Old grandpa deal with the clean up mess especially since you and Adam cooked dinner, go ahead and go to bed. "Grandpa I appreciate it but we cooked, it's our mess I got it. Thank you for the offer." She said sternly, but gently. She reminded me so much of my wife before she passed away, and her mother could talk the same way. I didn't know whether to laugh or just grin and bear it.
Several hours later in the night I had been sitting watching the news to see when the next storm system would hit. The older I got the more I could feel the storms and this one felt like it was going to be a big one. The radar system didn't show the next storm coming in until 2 days later. I knew I needed to pass on the watch shift to one of the other men on duty so knowing I needed to sleep, so I walked outside to find one of my men. Giddion come here please. " Yes... What can I do for you Your Majesty?" he said.
I need you to take the next watch I need some sleep, I have been staying up with Lyra so Adam and Athena could have some sleep. I have a feeling this battle will be coming sooner than I want it to. Off Went Giddion in charge and had boarder patrols run again with different people, and some of the new men I had sent for arrived in time, so I was able to have one of them step in. I went back in and laid down for some much needed sleep on the couch while Alpha Ron took his turn to stay up on guard. As soon as I covered myself with a sheet and laid my head down on the pillow I was out.
Adam POV
I had woken up during the night needing a drink of water. I checked on Lyra as she was going to be a key part into the future so we needed to make sure she was ok too. We all knew she would be special. I saw Athena's grandfather asleep on the couch and I heard one of my wolves through the mind link that Giddeon was in charge of the watch shift. I started to feel the ground shaking and immediately got worried. I woke up Athena, went to grabbed Lyra, but she was not there so I went to wake up her great grandfather.
The good thing was Athena was ready to fight, but would never ever be left alone especially since her full wolf was not here yet. Alpha Ron had already grabbed Lyra and was sitting still holding Lyra as she slept. Giddeon raced in "Everyone needs to get into the bunker now. They are here to Kill Athena and Lyra. "He said breathlessly. We rushed Alpha Ron, Lyra and Athena down into the emergency bunker, as Adam mind- linked for the rest who could not fight to get into the emergency bunker for the rest of them. None of us can fight if we have to worry about her and Lyra.
I had my Beta come with me and my Gamma stayed with Athena and her dad in the secret bunker. I mind linked everyone of my pack members and told all those who wanted to fight to be ready in 10 minutes, but all those who can't fight go to the bunker immediately. Everyone else knew this was going to be a blood bath that none of us wanted. Even the Lycan king didn't want this, but if he did not step in, Athena and Lyra most likely would have died during this battle, and I was not prepared to lose my mate. Not only that they were a part of a prophecy and if they died too early then the prophecy would die with them. Everyone that was to fight met me outside in the battle field ready to fight.
We all shifted ripping our clothes as we changed doing our head count by each howl sound off. There were countless wolves and I lost count. Thankfully my beta was able to keep track and between the Lycan King, my men, and my uncles men we had enough to keep everyone safe. I could see them when they moved as a storm rolled in and began to thunder and lightning. I at least knew my mate was safe and our child with her, her dad and my gamma. The rogues were afraid of them for some reason of Athena and Lyra.
I mind-linked to anyone that could hear me that we take any alive as a prisoner. If they can't be saved then kill them. If they are willing to fight on our side they can seek sanctuary and fight with us. I heard Athena agree with me through the mind link. It was nice to know we both agreed on Several things. Just as I finished the rain started to pelt down on us as the attack came.
We were all ready and It was going to be a fight to the death. Rogues were weaker so it was they who would die not us. Once separated from a pack you are more vulnerable even if you separate in a large amount. As the rogues attacked us I flung them off of me killing more than I should have been able to handle I felt so worn down but knew I still had to fight. I had a feeling it was because of the powers Athena had, and we were told when her wolf was fully here, her power would increase exponentially, and I had a feeling her wolf came. Especially when my Gamma was mind linking me telling me something was wrong with Athena.
She laid down and then all of a sudden she just changed into her wolf form. Now before the next and hopefully final fight we would be able to have her fight if we could, but I knew better still. I wanted her to stay with Lyra, but tomorrow she would be with someone and go for a run in her wolf form to strengthen her body and wolf. With that thought in mind I stood ready for the rogues who were surrounding me. They bowed their heads and I knew they were surrounding me and didn't want to fight. All 5 surrounded me fighting with me helping fight the rest that lunged forward at me.
Before long we had killed well over 50 rogue wolves the others retreating. We knew this was not over but knew this was one hell of a fight. The wolves surrendered or were taken as prisoners were taken away and the ones who wanted to live peacefully followed us. I let the rest of the pack know it was safe to come out for now. Athena rushed to me with Lyra in her hands and I rushed back to her picking her up gently with Lyra in her arms. I was so thankful that my girls were safe.
I had my Beta Joe deal with the newcomers and found them a spot in the pack house. I would initiate them into the pack later. It looked like it was a whole lineage of family that came to be in the pack. For now it was time to get cleaned up and eat. We all decided to eat together at the dining hall and I would initiate the new wolves into the pack. We would build new houses for some of the larger families who did not want to fight.
This puts us at about 3,200 wolves now. We killed well over a hundred and about a third got away. they were heavily outnumbered with us and even had children and young teenagers involved. The children and young teenagers abandoned their families because they didn't want to be a part of this war and Athena and Lyra were killed. They wanted to die knowing that Athena and Lyra could be their salvation. I knew it would get to the point where Athena would have to fight because I could feel her powers getting stronger. I knew her strength and our mate bond would be the key to winning this war.
