“Hello, 9-1-1, what’s your emergency?” The dispatcher answered.

“Uhh, my husband, he’s not responding, uhh, he’s not moving. I–please send someone,” Lynn pleaded, trying not to cry.

The ambulance was there in about ten minutes. They moved in, grabbed a lifeless JD, and strapped him to the gurney to take him to the hospital.

Lynn and Ayvah followed behind.

Once at the hospital, the nurse came to ask them some questions. “Hey, I’m Clarissa. We will do everything we can to take care of Mr. Jerry and give you that peace of mind. May I ask your names and relationship to Mr. Jerry?”

“Thank you. I’m Lynn, Jerry’s wife, and this is our daughter, Ayvah,” Lynn said.

“Jerry’s a lucky guy to have such beautiful girls. Ok, so what happened? Was he sick or anything like that?” Clarissa asked.

“Well, he was in a fight. Some guys attacked him for reasons we don’t know. Last night, he said he wasn’t feeling well. He didn’t have a runny nose; he wasn’t coughing or anything,” Lynn said.

“Oh, wow. People are crazy. In this altercation, was he shot or stabbed?” Clarissa asked.

“No. I don’t think so…Oh! I think he mentioned he was bitten. Check his shoulder,” said Lynn.

“Ok, great. Thank you so much for this information. We will keep you updated.” Clarissa got up with her notes and walked away.

She returned to the room with the doctor assigned to JD, Dr. Denny Jones.

“What did you find out?” Dr.Jones asked.

“He was in a fight, and he may have been bitten on his shoulder,” Clarissa said.

“We checked his whole body, though. I don’t see any bite marks anywhere,” Jones replied.

“How is he? I see that he still has a pulse. Is he in a coma?” Clarissa asked.

“Yes, but I don’t understand why or what’s causing him to just be in a fucking coma. I can tell he was in a fight. I see bruising. There were definitely multiple attackers,” Dr. Jones continued to inspect JD’s body. He looked at JD’s shoulders again and felt something strange.

“Wait. Why is this shoulder so warm? It’s damn near hot. Feel right here,” Jones told Clarissa.

Clarissa placed her hand on JD’s shoulder. “Oh, wow. That’s odd.”

“We’re going to need to open him up. Tell them to prepare the operating room,” Jones said.

After Clarissa had gone to prepare for the surgery, she went back to Lynn and Ayvah.

“Hey, guys. So I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that Jerry is not dead. He’s still alive. The bad news is that he’s in a coma, and we don’t know why. They are preparing for operation now. They suspect it has something to do with that bite on his shoulder. Maybe he was poisoned or something. Once the operation is done and if it is successful, which it will be, you can see him,” Clarissa assured them.

Lynn and Ayvah stayed the night at the Hospital, sleeping in the waiting room.

Morning came, and Dr. Jones approached them.

“Hello. Good morning, ladies. We appreciate your patience, and I understand that this is not easy at all. This is a bizarre case. Jerry’s still alive and well, but he has not awakened yet. We did find what we believe to be some poison in his bloodstream. It originated from his shoulder, which you said he was bitten on. The external wound had healed; however, internally, there was a clear indication of poison of some kind. We will keep him here. You’re free to come and go as you please. We’ll keep visitation open for you. If you want to stay the night sometimes, please be in the room before 11 PM,” Dr. Jones explained.

“Thank you so much. We appreciate you,” Lynn said. They shook hands, and Dr. Jones left.

“It must have been those lizard people, Mama,” Ayvah told her mom.

At the White House, Luther talked to his newly acquired staff. They all met in the main lobby.

“If you are here, that means you understand that this country and its moronic government is in serious need of an overhaul. I say we burn it all to the ground. Not literally. Do it in such a way that it is self-inflicted, much like how the government operates now. After this meeting, we will begin the purge of this country. This purge will last one year. All telecommunication devices will be cut and offline. That means no social media, messaging, phone calls, or anything. If you are not a government official, you do not have a talking device.

“The big one, Area 51. The rumors are true. There are no aliens in Area 51, ok? There are tons and tons of reptilian shapeshifting humanoids created by your government. They will be turned loose to wreak havoc wherever they see fit,” Luther explained to those in the White House. They all looked uneasy hearing all of these unfathomable things being said.

Luther then showed his reptilian skin.

The lobby was filled with gasps and chatter.

“As you can see, I am one of them. I was put into Experiment 51 many years ago when I became a part of the CIA. If you are here, then you are safe. You can come and go as you please, but ensure you can protect yourself when the fun starts. It seems the Rubix is already spreading, with more cases building. We have everything in place to kill off the weak and the toxic. Now, let the games begin,” Luther laughed as he ended his speech.

“Mama, is something wrong with our phones?” Ayvah asked.

“Shouldn’t be. Why, you ask?” asked Lynn.

“I can’t get on the internet or send a message or anything,” Ayvah replied.

“Hmm. That’s odd. The bill is paid. Here, let me see.” Lynn tried calling Ayvah, but the line went straight to a busy tone.

She tried sending a text, but the message was never sent. “I can’t even use iMessage or Facetime with you. I’ll try calling the carrier,” Lynn said as she dialed 6-1-1 on her phone. It would not connect. What the hell is going on? Well, that’s not good. We need our phones to contact the hospital. I’m going to go next door to see if they are having the same issue.”

Lynn went next door to her neighbor’s house.

Ayvah laid in her bed, trying to get her internet to work.

“Ayvah.”

Ayvah swore she heard someone call her name, yet she didn’t see anyone. It was a deep voice. It was not her mom, and she knew her dad wasn’t home. She ignored it.

She suddenly was up, and her vision was almost color-inverted. “What the? What’s going on? I can’t see clearly. I’m blind! Mama! Mama, where are you?” Ayvah called out for her mom with her hands stretched out in front of her.

“Ease your mind and stand firm, child. For it is then you will see. Abide in me, thou shall see the world for what it is,” the voice spoke.

“God?” Ayvah said, confused.

“It is I—the creator of man. The Great I Am. The one and only true God. Listen to my voice and stand firm in your blessing. Do not be afraid, for I am with you,” God said.

Ayvah calmed herself. She closed her eyes for five seconds, opened them again, and could see again.

“Why did I lose my vision?” Ayvah asked.

“You have been gifted the burden of bringing the world out of the turmoil it is soon headed for. You, who are blessed beyond measure, pure of heart, and full of love, have been ordained by the Heavens to dwell in both the land of the living and the dead. You will be able to see the spirits that roam the earth, both good and bad. Do not be alarmed. I have a mission for you, my child. Do this and you will forever have everlasting life and an eternal place in the Kingdom of God.”
