Within hours, news crews and reporters were in front of the White House, waiting to hear what the soon-to-be-sworn-in president had to say.

The VP was sworn in and is now the acting President of the United States.

“Hello, fellow Americans. Today, tragedy struck, and it took with it our beloved James King—a fine leader, man, and all-around excellent human being. President King will leave an unmatched legacy, and I have some huge shoes to fill. To his beautiful wife, Melanie King, and their three children, James King Jr, Taylor King, and Mya King, if you need anything, America has your backs. We are here for you. Now, onto the new threat.

“President King died of an illness unlike any of us have ever seen before. The best scientists, medical staff, doctors, and professors are working to learn more about this dreaded virus. We ask that no one panics, as this is the first and only case. So far, it is one for one, but we will beat this. We’ve seen them all come, and we’ve seen them all go. You know what remains at the end of the day? America. Me, you, Americans. We remain and will beat this just like we beat everything else. God bless the King family—our sincerest condolences. I, President John Wyatt, will carry on the mission of my friend James in making America a better place for all. Rest easy, my friend,” President Wyatt concluded his speech.

Ten gunshots rang out to honor President King. His children were seen crying, and their mother was consoling them.

Ayvah’s teacher walked her to Lynn’s car.

“Hey. How was she?” Lynn asked.

“She is such an angel. Super smart, too. Like she’s been here before,” Mrs. Saunders replied.

Lynn gave a small chuckle. “My husband says the same thing about her. Any homework she needs to do?”

“No, not tonight. She’s free just to enjoy her day, and we’ll see her again in the morning,” Mrs. Saunders said.

They headed home after the small conversation with Ayvah’s teacher.

“Good job, kiddo,” Lynn said to her daughter.

“Mama, I’m hungry,” Ayvah said.

“Didn’t you eat at school?” Lynn asked.

“Kind of. That food is like the jail stuff,” Ayvah responded with a sour look.

Lynn laughed. “The jail stuff? Oh my goodness, child. What are they teaching you there? What do you know about jail?”

“I don’t know. I just know I don’t wanna go there,” Ayvah said.

Lynn rubbed Ayvah’s head and shook her head with a smile. Amazed at the wit of her little girl.

Later that night, Lynn tucked Ayvah in. JD had to work until about 9:30 pm. When he got in, he went to Ayvah’s room and kissed her.

He went into his and Lynn’s room and kissed her.

“Hey, there’s food on the stove. You saw?” She asked.

“Yeah, I did. I appreciate it, babe,” he said in an exhausted tone.

“You ok? How was your day?” She asked, a little concerned.

“Wasn’t bad. Just tired as all hell for whatever reason,” he responded as he yawned and stretched.

Both phones dinged simultaneously. They looked up at each other and then checked their phones.

Lynn put her hand over her mouth in shock.
