Ye Chen ordered his men to drag the five crippled individuals away, his voice cold as ice. “Today, I’m sparing your pathetic lives. But if any of you dare to leak what happened here, I will wipe out your entire family. Understood?”
The five of them frantically nodded their heads.
At this point, they were just grateful to still be breathing. Who would dare to defy Ye Chen’s command?
Seeing that they had been utterly subdued, Ye Chen nodded in satisfaction and turned to Liu Yuesheng. “You tried to scam my brother, so you must pay the price. Tomorrow, transfer the ownership of the restaurant to him and get yourself and your daughter out. Do you understand?”
Liu Yuesheng nodded repeatedly like a bobblehead. “Understood! I’ll leave first thing in the morning!”
Ye Chen then looked at Zhao Haifeng and said, “Your son humiliated my brother and even put him in the hospital. Tomorrow, you will compensate him with two million yuan. Not a single cent less. Do you understand?”
Zhao Haifeng, terrified, quickly replied, “Yes, Mr. Ye! I’ll transfer the money first thing tomorrow!”
Ye Chen, satisfied, turned to his men. “Alright, throw these pieces of trash out.”
His subordinates immediately dragged the five of them away.
Afterward, Ye Chen turned to A’Biao and said, “A’Biao, you did well this time.”
A’Biao’s face lit up with excitement. “Mr. Ye, it was my duty!”
Ye Chen replied casually, “I’ll have someone transfer two million yuan to your account as a reward.”
A’Biao was overjoyed and bowed deeply. “Thank you, Mr. Ye!”
Although he had made a good living following Hong Wu, he had never received such a generous reward before.
Ye Chen sent a quick message to Chen Zekai, instructing him to transfer the money to A’Biao’s account, as it was inconvenient for him to do so himself.
Within a minute, the money was deposited.
A’Biao, overwhelmed with gratitude, kept bowing in thanks.
Ye Chen then turned to Hong Wu and said, “Hong Wu, I doubt you care about this small amount of money.”
Hong Wu quickly responded, “Mr. Ye, serving you is my greatest honor.”
Ye Chen nodded and said, “I will remember this favor. One day, I will give you an opportunity to rise to greater heights.”
Hong Wu was so moved that he immediately dropped to his knees and kowtowed to Ye Chen.
For Hong Wu, money wasn’t the ultimate goal—what he wanted was power and status.
But for someone like him, climbing any higher was nearly impossible.
He had always wanted to connect with Chen Zekai, but Chen Zekai had never paid him any attention, considering him too crude and unworthy.
Now, with Ye Chen’s promise, there was a real chance that Chen Zekai might bring him into his circle. If that happened, his future prospects would be limitless!
After handling his rewards, Ye Chen turned to Wang Daokun and asked, “Are you satisfied with how things turned out today?”
Wang Daokun was still in a state of shock.
He couldn’t understand how Ye Chen had suddenly become so powerful.
Even the underground king of Jinling was kneeling before him!
After a long moment, he snapped out of his daze and quickly nodded. “Yes! Very satisfied!”
Ye Chen continued, “I got justice for you, secured the restaurant for you, and got you two million in compensation. From here on, your future is up to you.”
Wang Daokun immediately declared, “Ye Chen, from now on, I will do anything for you! No matter what you ask, I will never say no!”
Ye Chen nodded. “Focus on recovering first. Once you’re better, run the restaurant properly. If I need anything from you, I’ll let you know.”
Wang Daokun repeatedly assured, “I am at your service anytime!”
Ye Chen then warned, “And remember—today’s events must never be spoken of. I don’t want anyone knowing about my identity. Do you understand?”
Wang Daokun quickly nodded. “I understand! Even if I die, I won’t say a word!”
Ye Chen nodded in approval. “I’ll arrange for two caregivers to take care of you. Get some rest. I’ll be leaving now.”
Back at home, Ye Chen didn’t mention anything about the day’s events to his wife, Xiao Churan.
He still didn’t want her to know too much—for her own safety, the less she knew, the better.
The next morning, as Ye Chen was out buying groceries, he suddenly received a call.
Checking the screen, he was surprised to see that it was from Song Wanting, the heiress of the Song family and owner of Jiqingtang.
He couldn’t help but wonder what she wanted.
Answering the call, he heard Song Wanting’s polite voice. “Mr. Ye, I apologize for disturbing you. I hope I’m not interrupting.”
Ye Chen instinctively asked, “Did something happen to the Jade Spring Vase I repaired?”
Song Wanting quickly replied, “Oh no, not at all! I’m calling about something else.”
“Go ahead.”
“It’s like this—I recently came across an item that I can’t quite assess with confidence. I know you have a deep understanding of antiques, so I wanted to see if you’d be willing to accompany me, for a fee, to take a look. Would you be interested?”
Ye Chen wasn’t particularly interested in antiques, but since he was now seeking objects infused with spiritual energy, he asked, “What kind of item is it?”
Song Wanting explained, “It’s an ancient jade piece. The seller claims that wearing it brings peace of mind, wards off misfortune, and attracts good fortune.”
Ye Chen’s mind immediately recalled something.
The Nine Profound Heaven Scripture he had obtained mentioned such spiritual artifacts.
If he could find a genuine one, it would have immense benefits.
Curious, he agreed. “Alright, I’ll go with you.”
Song Wanting sounded pleased. “Thank you, Mr. Ye. I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning at eight.”
“Sounds good.”
After hanging up, Ye Chen contemplated his next steps.
Wealthy people had a strong belief in feng shui and artifacts that could enhance luck or bring peace.
Perhaps, by mingling with them, he might stumble upon valuable treasures.
The next morning, Song Wanting arrived on time to pick Ye Chen up.
Once he got into the car, she informed him, “Mr. Ye, there will be several other people bidding for this jade today. The competition might be fierce.”
Ye Chen nodded calmly. “It doesn’t matter how many people are after it. The key is whether the item is truly valuable. If it is, then numbers won’t matter. I trust that if you genuinely want it, no one will be able to stop you.”
Song Wanting chuckled. “You flatter me, Mr. Ye. But there’s always someone stronger out there. Even within Jinling, there are hidden powerhouses beyond our knowledge.”
Feigning curiosity, Ye Chen asked, “Really? Isn’t the Song family the most powerful in Jinling?”
Song Wanting laughed and shook her head. “That’s just on the surface. For example, the new chairman of the Emgrand Group—one company under their control is worth as much as our entire Song family. That person’s true strength is unfathomable.”
With a hint of admiration in her voice, she continued, “I would love to meet this mysterious figure, but unfortunately, there’s no way to even get close.”
