ZHAO Dong immediately made a phone call, his voice arrogant and commanding. “Seventh Brother, I’m at the People’s Hospital right now. Bring some guys over—I need to cripple someone.”
Ye Chen didn’t bother calling anyone. Instead, he simply sent a text to Hong Wu: “Come to the People’s Hospital. Someone wants me dead.”
Hong Wu called back immediately, his tone full of anger. “Master Ye, who’s the blind fool that dares to go against you?!”
Ye Chen’s voice was calm. “Cut the nonsense. Just get over here.”
Hong Wu instantly responded. “Master Ye, don’t worry. I’ll be there right away!”
Watching Ye Chen on his phone, Zhao Dong sneered. “What? You got people too?”
Ye Chen smirked. “I told you, you’ll regret this.”
Zhao Dong laughed loudly as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world. “You? Make me regret? Kid, in Jinling, no one has the power to make me regret anything!”
From the hospital bed, Wang Daokun struggled to sit up, his face filled with anxiety. “Ye Chen, you need to leave! Don’t mess with this guy—he’s dangerous!”
Ye Chen pressed him back down onto the bed with ease and said calmly, “Just rest.”
Wang Daokun was almost desperate. “You don’t know who Zhao Dong is! His family has deep connections in Jinling—”
Ye Chen peeled an orange and stuffed a slice into Wang Daokun’s mouth. “I don’t give a damn about who he is.”
Liu Lili burst into laughter. “Oh my god, you’re really full of sh*t! Do you even know what Dong-ge’s family does?”
Ye Chen glanced at her and said, “I don’t care. All I know is that for the rest of his life, he’ll be a cripple.”
After a pause, he added, “And you too.”
Liu Lili’s face darkened. “Alright, since you want to die so badly, then just wait!”
Ye Chen turned back to Wang Daokun and asked, “Did Liu Lili’s father, Liu Yuesheng, know that you were beaten up?”
“He knows.” Wang Daokun’s voice was filled with bitterness. “I called him.”
Ye Chen nodded. “And what did he say?”
Wang Daokun’s expression turned even uglier. “He said that this was a matter between young people, and he couldn’t get involved. Basically, he told me not to bother him.”
Ye Chen’s expression turned cold. “And the 100,000 yuan you invested in the restaurant? Did you ask for it back?”
“I did!” Wang Daokun gritted his teeth. “That old bastard said my 100,000 wasn’t an investment but a ‘gift of respect’ from a future son-in-law. He said I had no right to ask for it back and that he wouldn’t return a single cent!”
“Unbelievable.” Ye Chen’s voice was icy. “No wonder he has such a disgusting daughter. Turns out, he’s just as vile.”
Liu Lili instantly erupted. “Ye Chen! What the hell did you just say about my dad?! You wanna die?!”
She grabbed Zhao Dong’s arm and whined. “Dong-ge, he’s insulting my father—beat him up for me!”
Zhao Dong wasn’t a fighter. He was a rich brat, and Ye Chen was clearly taller and looked stronger. Zhao Dong wasn’t stupid—he knew that if he fought Ye Chen directly, he’d be the one getting beaten.
But he wasn’t worried. “Baby, relax. Seventh Brother and his men will be here soon. Once they arrive, I’ll make sure this idiot suffers.”
Meanwhile, Ye Chen had sent a text to Chen Zekai. “What’s the background of Zhao Dong from Jinling?”
Chen Zekai quickly responded. “His family runs a jade and pawn business. They’re well-off but nothing exceptional. Did he offend you?”
“Yes.”
Chen Zekai immediately asked, “What do you need me to do, Young Master?”
Ye Chen replied, “Bring Zhao Dong’s father to the People’s Hospital. And while you’re at it, get Liu Yuesheng here too.”
Chen Zekai responded instantly. “Understood, Young Master. I’ll have them both tied up and delivered.”
Ye Chen added, “No need for you to personally show up. Just send your people—I don’t want them knowing we’re connected.”
Chen Zekai answered, “Understood. Do you want them to be… ‘disciplined’ first?”
Ye Chen smirked. “Give them a good beating before bringing them over.”
“Consider it done.”
Putting away his phone, Ye Chen looked at Zhao Dong and Liu Lili. “They say a child’s behavior reflects their parents. In a bit, I’ll have your fathers come over to explain how they raised such trash like you two.”
Zhao Dong’s face turned dark. “Kid, I’m warning you—shut the hell up before it’s too late. Once my guys get here, you’re dead meat.”
Ye Chen smirked. “Let’s hope they get here soon—I’m getting impatient.”
Just as Zhao Dong was about to curse, the hospital room door was suddenly kicked open.
A burly man with a scarred face stormed in with a group of thugs behind him.
Zhao Dong immediately pointed at Ye Chen. “Seventh Brother! That’s the bastard—cripple him for me!”
Seventh Brother squinted at Ye Chen and asked coldly, “You’re the one causing trouble for my brother?”
Ye Chen smiled faintly. “And if I am?”
Seventh Brother scrutinized Ye Chen carefully. “Where are you from?”
Ye Chen shrugged. “From home.”
Zhao Dong quickly added, “Seventh Brother, this guy’s just some useless live-in son-in-law. A complete nobody.”
He leaned in and whispered, “Don’t hold back. Beat him to death if you want—I’ll take care of it.”
Seventh Brother’s lips curled into a cruel smile. “A useless son-in-law, huh? Then I’ll make sure he never gets to play husband again.”
Without another word, he turned to his men. “Break his legs!”
Zhao Dong sneered at Ye Chen. “Any last words before you become a cripple?”
Ye Chen didn’t even look at him. Instead, he stared at Seventh Brother and said calmly, “Kneel down, and I might let you live.”
Seventh Brother’s face twisted in anger. “What did you just say?! Say that again, and I swear you won’t live through the night!”
At that moment, a furious roar came from outside the room.
“Seventh Brother! Ye Chen told you to kneel—ARE YOU F*CKING DEAF?!”
Seventh Brother’s expression changed instantly.
That voice—
It was Hong Wu!
