As Ye Chen approached Shangri-La, two black-suited security guards blocked his way.


“Sorry, sir, please show your membership card.”


Ye Chen’s clothes, costing less than 200 yuan altogether, made him stand out awkwardly among the elegantly dressed guests.

Bi Lina smiled proudly. “Oh, you flatter me. I’m just a small team leader in HR, barely middle management here.”


Ye Chen genuinely praised her, “That’s still impressive. I’ve heard Shangri-La’s management standards are very high. You’re remarkable!”


Bi Lina smirked proudly but then glared coldly at the guards. “You two blocked my old class monitor at the door?”


The guards exchanged nervous glances. One quickly explained, “Sorry, Team Leader Bi, we didn’t know he was your classmate. Without a membership card, we were just following hotel policy…”


Bi Lina sneered, “Rules are dead, people are alive. Don’t you understand that?”


Ye Chen thought she was about to punish them and quickly said, “Bi Lina, don’t be too hard on them. They were just doing their job.”
