The child's discolored skin caught Olivia's attention as she sat in the car, her phone lighting up in the darkness as she searched for the nearest police station on GPS. The little girl's skin was a sickly shade, a stark contrast against her dark eyes that seemed to hold an eerie gaze. Olivia couldn't help but feel a sense of unease as she looked at the child, wondering what could have caused such a drastic change in her appearance. Was it a medical condition or something more sinister? As she continued her search for the police station, Olivia couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that washed over her, making her heart race and her palms sweat. She couldn't help but wonder what secrets the child's discolored skin and dark eyes held.
"Thank goodness, we're about 15 minutes from the nearest police station. We're almost there,
sweetie. Can you tell me what happened?" Olivia asked, but the child remained silent, her eyes staring straight ahead.
Moments later, the young girl's screams pierced through the stillness of the car. With every pound on the backseat and every cry for help, the intensity of her pain was evident. Her piercing screams for her mother to help her were met with no response. As her cries grew louder and more desperate, she reached a point of sheer agony, headbutting the air in an attempt to escape the pain. The sounds of her cries filled the car and in that moment, it was clear that this young girl was experiencing an unbearable and excruciating pain, one that no child should ever have to endure.
The young girl's tantrum seemed to have no end in sight, as she continued to cry out in pain, "Burning! It hurts! Mommy help!" Olivia did her best to console the child, but her helpless cries soon turned into uncontrollable sobs, her efforts to soothe the child failed, her tantrum persisted, and it seemed as though nothing could bring her comfort. As Olivia held the girl in her arms and whispered soothing words, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness for the young girl's pain and frustration. She could only hope that the tantrum would eventually subside, and that the girl would find some peace.
Jack's authoritative voice cut through the tense air as he barked out orders to Olivia. "We're here, I'll get the cops, stay here," he commanded, his tone leaving no room for argument. Olivia nodded, agreeing to his plan, but before they could act, she realized they needed to air out the car. As she opened the window, her eyes flicked to the young girl who disappeared. Panic and confusion set in as Olivia frantically searched the area, but there was no sign of the girl.
"She's right here officer! We picked her up on the side of the road, she needs help!" Jack explained.
One of the officers looked in the car "What child?" He asked.
"Where is she? Olivia, where'd she go?" Jacked was confused.
"I, I don't know, I turned my head for a second and she was, gone, I can't find her!" Olivia murmured.
"Look kids, this is a bad joke, you're damn lucky I don't bring you in on charges, now be on your way" the older officer said.
"It's not a joke, this girl was wearing a dirty, burned dress, she had cuts on her face, she looked burned, she was looking for her mom!" Jack hollered at the cop walking away.
"You gotta believe us" Olivia said to the other other officer who was looking deep in thought.
