Tamsin and I were in a somber mood, as she used the phone to get another Uber (Mike showed her how). We decided to travel a bit. So, we went to the nearest airport. Are you already realizing our dilemma? We got there, headed to the airline desk to book tickets to New York City. They asked for our IDs, and without thinking, we handed them over. The agent did a double take when she looked at them. "These are not valid. Do you have a current ID?", she asked. We shook our heads no. We apologized for wasting her time, and decided to try our luck with Amtrak. We looked up the nearest station on our phone, saw that it was a 10 minute walk (Isn't Google Maps an amazing thing?), and headed that way. We got tickets to NYC and boarded. We settled in and sat down. The train departed and it wasn't long before we were sleeping. Finally, we arrived in NYC. We found out that a lot of hotels have the same ID requirements as the airlines. A clerk at one of the hotels suggested Air BnB. We only had cash, though, so that was no good. We decided that we would do some sightseeing, then move on by train somewhere else. We took a train to Chicago this time. We did the touristy, sightseeing things, and decided that we should probably go back home. There was only so much tourism we could take, and with nowhere to stay without current IDs, we needed to go home.
