We saw a big blue sign with the words "Walmart" and a yellow star that glowed out into the night.

We walked in to this monolithic store and saw that they had anything we could possibly need. We browsed the women's section first, found some clothes for Tamsin, and then it was my turn. We quickly found some clothes for me, and decided to see what else 2015 had to offer. We wandered all over the store, marveling at many things which had seemed inconceivable just an hour before. There were toys, clothes, bikes, and so much more. We made it to where the store had electronics for sale. We marveled at the video game systems, the TVs, something called a laptop and so much more. Finally, we saw those odd, little rectangular devices. We browsed around, confused by all the options, and finally settled on a pay as you go option. We had no intentions of staying for good. We browsed groceries and the deli for some food, and then headed up to checkout. It was so different from what we were used to. Everyone was checking themselves out! The machines were a marvel. When it was our turn, we trepidatiously walked up to one. It asked for a phone number, but we skipped that part. Then, we started trying to check out. We had some issues scanning our items, but we eventually got there, with the help of a puzzled employee. Finally, we got our total, and man was it expensive! We had enough luckily so the employee showed us where to put our cash in, and we nervously started feeding our money into the machine. It spit out our change and a receipt and then we were done. We walked to the bathrooms to change. I walked into the men's bathroom and was surprised to find that the sinks didn't have knobs or any way to turn the water on. I tried to figure out how to get some water to wash my face, because I was anxious and sweaty. Finally, I figured it out, washed my face and went into a stall to change. To my shock, as I was walking into the stall, the toilet flushed on its own.

After frantically looking around to make sure I was alone after the phantom flush, I took the tags off my new clothes and put them on. It was then that I heard the music the store was playing. It sounded great, but very different from what I was used to. It was just talking over some drums. I finished changing, and opened the stall. Again, the phantom flush happened, as if the toilet were telling me goodbye. I walked out of the bathroom and waited for Tamsin. She came out shortly, looking fantastic as ever. Together, we made our way out to the street, musing about all the wonderful things we had seen. We sat down at a nearby park and tried to figure out how to use our new "phone", as the Walmart employee called it. Tamsin made short work of that, and we were able to get "online".
