We got in Tamsin's car and we rushed over to the university. Nestled deep in the basement of the physics department building, there was a room where Tamsin, Mike, and Jess worked on their experiment. Mike and Jess were waiting for us. "Well, are y'all ready?", Jess drawled in her Southern accent. "You bet!", both Tamsin and I replied as one.

"Well, climb on in" she said, motioning towards a capsule.

We got in. Mike asked "The past or the future?".

Tamsin told him "Let's start small. Tomorrow morning should do for a test". "Be careful" was his only reply.

And off we went. There was a flash of bright light and we felt a thud and then Tamsin opened the door. We were in the same place, but we looked at the clock, it was 9AM. We walked out of the room and up the stairs and were met with students rushing around trying to make it to class on time. We walked out of the building and saw that it was a bright sunny day. Tamsin started walking towards her car. "Where are we going?" I asked. She replied "Home. I want to leave something so that we know it worked.". "But...paradox" I objected. She told me "Relax, we're not home, we're in class, silly". Relieved, I followed after her. We got home in record time. Tamsin unlocked the door and strolled in. Luckily, we were alone. She hurried over to the fridge, grabbing a piece of paper on the way. She hurriedly wrote "Tamsin was here, 12/2/1974 9:15AM". She put the note on the fridge with several of her magnets, then she started to leave. "We're heading back now?", I asked. "Yes, this should be enough of a test to figure out if it worked", she said to me as she locked our door. We went back to the time machine, Tamsin put in our desired time, and before we knew it we were back. Jess and Mike were looking at us when we got out of the machine. " Well, how'd it go?", Mike asked. "We'll know tomorrow", Tamsin said calmly.

We all went home. In the morning, Tamsin and I slept in, and then decided to go out for coffee and come back at 9:30, to give our future selves time to leave the note.

At 9:35, we entered our apartment, and hurried to the fridge. The note was there! It had worked!

Tamsin sent messages to Jess and Mike that we had success.
