“Our coach trip to the Great Langdale Valley was so successful,” said Bullpuss, “that I think we should plan more outings, and have some fun!”

“We could create tableau, recreating famous occasions and scenes,” said Moppet, “gathering all our acquaintances together, and promote feline conviviality to the world.”

“My favourite are the famous painters and artists, that we have done,” said Tigger, “I particularly liked my interpretations of Picatto.”

Annabel the Cat

The new kittens bounced in from the garden, and joined the conversation.

“I loved visiting Crowther Street in Stockport,” said Tabitha, “so easy for our people to take us there. Getting all the local ginger cats to pose on the staircase of wide steps was so enjoyable!”

With apologies to L S Lowry

Author’s Note: the cat with the umbrella is Timothy Spall’s cat, since when the photoshoot for the filem ‘Mrs Lowry and Son’ was done it was raining in Stockport!

“May I put a word in for more vintage railway journeys,” asked Mungojerrie, “such fun, and you get to meet so many interesting pets. Dogs, cats, parrots and even the friendliest of guinea pigs!”

Trouble was that the cats on board decided that the upholstery on the vintage carriages made excellent scratching areas.

Was it moquette or mocat?

The Ginger Nuts all turned towards Simpkin, who seemed to be fast asleep in his favourite spot on the sofa. He was the only one not to have contributed to the discussion.

He opened an eye, yawned, stretched and gave his considered opinion: “we should visit cat takeaways and report our findings on CatAdvisor” he said.

“Do you remember when Mungojerrie visited the Cat Cafe in central Manchester, near the famous Northern Quarter?” said Mrs Ribby, “I have no idea where he found his companion!”

“Well,” said Bullpuss, “there are often abandoned kittens knocking about in need of a good meal!”

On another occasion the London Chapter hired the wonderful old Guy Arab coach to investigate the new electric buses being employed between Greenwich and Bexleyheath.
