I was born on April 2nd, 1962, in Honolulu, Hawaii. My father was serving in the US Navy, and mom had to act as a dual parent while dad was at sea.

My early memories of my infant years is vague. I only recall that we used to ride on my Uncle Henry's old pick-up truck. As far as food goes, I was really a picky eater. At least I remember that the only thing I would eat is saimen, or noodle soup.

After living in Hawaii, we lived a few years in Rhode Island and Nortolk, Virginia. Again, I was a picky eater, but this time it was two bolgna slices, cooked, and rice. I wouldn't eat bananas, raisins, or Vienna sausage. I think I would eventually take a liking to apples and grapes.

Dad was on a ship called the Spiegel Grove, so I barely remember the times we used to drive at the Naval base in Virginia. I also remember some of the grocery stores, riding a pony, and seeing JUNGLE BOOK at a drive-in.

Because he was in the Navy, dad was ordered to go to the west coast, to serve on the USS Kitty Hawk, an aircraft carrier. So naturally we would be moving in 1968, traveling across the southern United States. Going through the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Missisippi, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and finally living in San Diego, California.
