"Superman," he said, testing the title. "I've heard of you.""And I've heard of you." Superman planted his feet firmly on the ground. "Why did you come?"Omni-Man looked at him for an eternity before saying anything. "To offer you a choice."Superman frowned. "A choice?""This world is weak," Omni-Man sneered, his tone dripping with condescension. "Soft. Full of imperfect beings grasping for silly ideals. You're different, Kal-El. You're not human. You know they can't get by on hope."Superman's fists curled. "Earth is my home. I won't let you or anyone else steal that from them."Omni-Man's face turned dark. "You sound just like my son."There was something in his voice that betrayed a past hurt, but Clark could not afford to indulge it. He simply watched as the lead warrior removed his helmet, revealing an ashen-skinned being with glowing crimson eyes."I am Lord Vorrak," the warrior stated, his voice echoing in the air. "You, Kryptonian, are of no concern to me. But you…" His eyes turned towards Omni-Man, and a sinister smile crept onto his lips. "You are the sole remaining Viltrumite in this quadrant."Superman gave Omni-Man an incredulous look. "Last?"Omni-Man did not respond, but Superman detected something uncommon on his face.Doubt.Before either of them could utter a word, Vorrak lifted his gauntleted hand. A burst of black energy shot from his palm, slamming into both warriors with the power of a supernova.Superman's body screamed in agony, something ancient and unnatural ripping through his cells. He struggled against the force, driving forward, but for the first time in his life… he felt himself slowing.Omni-Man fell to one knee, his teeth clenched in rage.Vorrak's smirk grew. "Even Viltrumites bow to Zonnarians."The fight had hardly started, and Superman already had one thing realized.This foe… was unlike any he'd ever encountered.
