As the sun began to sink below the treetops, they reached the end of a sparse forest with lots of bushes and grasses. They heard noises, voices and laughter. They stopped and cautiously peeked out from behind the leaves of the flowers. For a long time, they watched other large dinosaurs playing on a playground that they had to build themselves. They weren't as big as a tyrannosaurus, and they certainly weren't as scary as he was. They seemed harmless. The big ones ate leaves and stems, the little ones chased around the slide. "Triceratops." Astra realized that she also knew them from the pictures. She poked her head out. Orion also thought they were in no danger from them. He crawled out of his hiding place. He took a slow and deliberate step in their direction. He wanted to carefully make sure they could go to them. But a vague swarm of paws, ears, tails and lots and lots of fur ruined his intention. He just watched in surprise as the kittens raced to the playground, Freya trying unsuccessfully to catch them and Astra to stop them with admonitions. But they did not listen and paid no heed to their warnings. They ran into the little triceratops and joined their game without prompting.
The adults watched with wonder the tiny and furry creatures they saw for the first time in the long decades of their lives. They admired how easily they moved, how fast they were. One moment they were on the left a moment later on the right. They climbed up the climbing frames and the slide, went down and made funny squeaks. Astra, Orion and Freya stepped onto the grassy area with a deliberate step. They didn't let the big triceratops out of their sight. But after a while, Orion started looking at the kittens. Their antics were much more interesting to him than the clumsy adults slowly munching tree leaves.
Freya, on the other hand, could roll her eyes at the big cat Orion, who suddenly ran after the others and started climbing the nearest climbing frame. "Incredibly." she said to herself. She looked at Astra as her gaze wandered between her and Orion. She snorted so Astra could hear it well. And she understood what he meant. Whether Astra understood her disdainful snort or not, she ran after the others and climbed the giant slide with gusto. Freya muttered something to herself and walked to the opposite side of the play area. She thought about the large creature they had met earlier. She had never seen anything so dangerous. Could he find them? Could he have hurt them? Where did he come from? How had she never come across his tracks before? She thought.
She was thinking and brooding so long and so deeply that she didn't even notice that the sun had almost set. Only a hungry meow reminded her that it was high time to return home. She summoned the kittens to her. Orion ran obediently with them. Amusingly, he grabbed Nukhfi's fur with his claws and pulled him behind his back. Nukhfi bit his tail. Angry that Orion is provoking him so much. Orion squealed. He jumped high and then fell under Freya’s paws. The kittens started giggling and Nukhfi puffed out his chest proudly. Orion straightened angrily. He tensed all his muscles to look terrifying. Nukhfi fell on his ass, leaning more and more until he fell onto his back. Orion poked his forehead with a paw. He stood over him, letting out terror. He thought that such a little brat wouldn't make fun of him.
Freya walked between them. She glared at them both with a serious expression and a little angry that they were being so childish. The little triceratops watched them curiously. They were giggling. They pointed to individual kittens. Then they started touching them. They gently touched their fur. Then they started pulling their tails. The kittens squealed and lashed out at them. This time Orion was laughing. Before one of the triceratops accidentally stepped on him. He squealed again and jumped up. He landed before Astra's paws this time. She watched as he stood up and put on his warrior visage. She grabbed his tail. There was no time for more jostling and pointless fights. They had to go.
They walked along the forest on a path trodden by many different animals. The triceratops followed them curiously. They had to stop every now and then to avoid stepping on one of them or running away. After a few tens of meters, the largest of the triceratops couldn't stand it anymore. He grabbed Orion by the skin of his neck and sat him up on his back. Orion began to squirm, running up and down his great back. He tried to grab his claws, but he couldn't. Dinosaur skin was too hard. He was afraid he would fall down. From that great height. He sat down. The triceratops started marching. He barely took a few faster steps and was already far ahead of the others. Orion understood that they wanted to help them. That they want to take them for a ride. He told the others and soon everyone was looking around from an incredible height.
They were approaching their forest full of pines. They could already smell their scent in the air and see their massive crowns, in which they climbed so beautifully. They were starting to like it on the backs of the big triceratops. The journey home took them much less time than the journey there. Wherever it actually was. Almost at the same time, the triceratops stepped onto the sandy and stony path bordering the cat world. All the cats fell from the height to the ground at the same moment. None of them expected anything like this. But Freya had excellent instincts. She landed on all four paws and looked around in confusion. Orion landed more on the front. He smacked his nose and did a somersault. Stunned, he lay in the sand. Astra landed on her stomach. She dug her nose into the stones until they flew into the distance. The kittens fell next to each other. They were meowing because everything hurt as they pounded herself. For a moment everyone remained as they were, dumbfounded. The giant triceratops simply disappeared. As if they had evaporated. None of the cats could understand what had happened there.
