That Christmas Eve, Shawn had dinner alone in his room while watching Christmas programming on television. Even though he was a loner by nature, he missed Kobe, and especially Brigitte. Although they didn't spend many days together, his mere presence changed the depressing atmosphere that reigned in that shabby room. Between bites of his family pizza, which was his Christmas dinner, Shawn decided to make a call to his former secretary.
"Hey, Anna, it's me, who? Don't you remember me? I'm Shawn.... I just wanted to wish you a merry Christmas... Thanks, you know, I wanted to tell you that you can come anytime you want to pick up the money I owed you. Yeah, I got lucky, I resolved a very important case, and the client paid good money. By the way, if you want to come back, now things are going well... Oh, you found a new job. Well, I'm happy for you... Thanks, see now... Come to collect the money whenever you want..."
After hanging the phone, he scrolled through Instagram, in all the posts people were posing in photos celebrating Christmas with their family, however, there was a post that made him stop but there was a post in which Brigitte and Rodney were celebrating Christmas with a bunch of friends in someone's cozy apartment.
After hanging up the phone, he took another bite of his pizza and surfed through the TV channels without finding anything that really caught his attention. It was then that he grabbed his phone again and started scrolling through Instagram. Everyone was posting their Christmas dinners with family and friends. Even Clinton was posing with his wife and daughters. Both his wife and daughters were gorgeous, and Shawn wondered how that bastard could be so lucky. Maybe being a bastard explained everything. But it was one post in particular that caught his attention. It was a photo in which Brigitte appeared with Rodney celebrating Christmas with some friends in a cozy apartment. She was wearing a stunning black sequined evening dress that further enhanced her deity-like beauty. Rodney was holding her by the waist with a glass of champagne in his hand while smiling at the camera. He seemed like the happiest guy in the world, and he had reason to be. The day after the incident at the pet store, Rodney had called him to thank him for his efforts in finding him. Brigitte had told him everything that had happened, and Rodney couldn't be more grateful. Shawn just listened to him answering in monosyllables, there wasn't much more he could say, after all, it was just another job. One that could reaffirm him as a private investigator, which was the best gift he could have received that Christmas from that unexpected secret Santa who appeared in his office with Brigitte's face.
