With no apparent will of his own, Che’s body bent toward the rope, with his only desire to throw himself from the bridge! At the last second, Andrew grabbed his arm, hooking his fingers into the thick jacket, and yanked him back! Before Ches could react, Andrew shoved him onto the narrow, wooden bridge floor, pinning him down with his upper body weight! What he saw made him recoil in horror. Two pitch-black eyes stared wide open at him, and a hideous, deep growl slipped from Ches’s mouth, sending chills through him. Ches began shoving at Andrew like a trapped beast, desperate for the freedom that lay beyond the bridge.
<< No! Not yet! >> Milo shouted, looking around as if he were lost, while Frankie rushed to help, managing to immobilize Ches’s legs, which flailed like whips in the air.
A playful laugh filled the air, bringing shivers to everyone. Andrew spotted her figure! In the distance, between the jagged rocks, he saw her beautiful form laughing with her hand raised high, pointing at Ches.
<< Let me go! >> Ches shouted in a deep voice that was not his own! Something had overtaken him, something inhuman. Andrew fought his fear to save the man, using all his strength to hold him to the floor. But Frankie was struggling, and Ches seized the chance to free his legs, slipping from the grasp of the stoic man. Without hesitation, he started kicking Frankie in the face with the sole of his heavy boot until Frankie collapsed dazed on the bridge.
<< Ches! Wake up! Ches! >> Andrew screamed desperately , watching as his shouts had no effect. Ches’s face grew darker and darker!
Thrashing like a fish, Ches freed one of his hands and jabbed his thumb into Andrew’s eye. Terrified, Andrew recoiled, pulling away to avoid the assault. Ches broke free from his weight and rolled toward the edge of the bridge. A powerful scream shattered the tense silence as Mile lunged at him! Relentlessly, he pummeled Ches’s face until he passed out..
Calm returned, and Andrew struggled to understand what was happening as he looked around unconsciously for the spirit.
<< LAMIA!>> Milo shouted, breathing heavily and full of rage. << If you want him, you’ll play by OUR RULES!>> he roared, his voice cracking the frozen surface of the waterfall. << ONLY THAT WAY! DO YOU HEAR ME ? IT’S OVER! >> he demanded and grabbed the unconscious Ches by the jacket and started dragging him with one hand. Frankie followed with his head bowed while Andrew watched Milo in awe. As calm as he seemed, Milo was just as powerful; and unyielding. His outburst though, the choice to resolve things with violence when he could have used all the blessed tools at his disposal and his... strange rage, betrayed other motives.
He turned his gaze away from them and began to backtrack, scanning the dense vegetation. He knew she was there, and she had heard Milo’s demands loud and clear although even that, - Milo speaking to the spirit with such revealing familiarity, was also strange!
