The story follows a woman writer who finds herself standing in her living room, numb and disoriented, after a series of devastating events in her life. Her 20-year-old son has recently left home, abandoning her to "find himself," leaving her feeling isolated and hurt. To make matters worse, two months ago, she discovered that her husband had been unfaithful, referring to his affair as a "mistake." His betrayal shattered her trust, but she never confronted him with rage, only silence.

In the midst of this emotional turmoil, her beloved cat, Min, died from kidney failure just a week ago. 

Sam and Mona were attached at the hip, that was until Sam made a move that brought out the worst in both of them. When these two reconnect in a creative writing class two years later, their festering grudges resurface in two very different ways. Sam can’t seem to let go of the past to experience the present, and Mona is so violently stuck in the present that she doesn’t consider what the future might hold.
