The first light of dawn cast a muted glow over Eldoria’s forests, but the air was tense with anticipation. The Shadow Conclave had been observed for days, their movements charted and coded by spies and dragons alike. Elijah stood at the edge of the forest, shards glowing faintly, signaling readiness to all around him. Kael adjusted his crossbow, glancing nervously at the shadows weaving between the trees. “So… we just walk in and yell ‘hi’? Or… you know, stab things?” Elijah shook his head. “We strike smart, Kael. The Shadow Conclave relies on surprise and secrecy. We will give them neither. Precision, timing, and coordination — that is our power. Dragons and shards will be our eyes, ears, and shields.” The dragons soared above, their wings slicing through the early morning mist, while scouts on the ground moved silently, flanking the enemy’s positions. Twilight energy from the shards illuminated hidden traps, allowing soldiers to bypass them safely. Suddenly, shadow warriors emerged, flowing like liquid darkness from the treeline. Their movements were swift, coordinated, and unnerving. Yet Elijah stepped forward, shards pulsing with elemental energy, dragons circling above in perfect synchronization. “Now!” Elijah commanded. Fire erupted, melting shadow constructs as frost encased their movements, while molten flame and twilight energy struck in unison, neutralizing the enemy’s coordination. The soldiers moved with precision, cutting off escape routes and forcing the shadow warriors into the open. Kael fired bolt after bolt, shouting with exhilaration. “This is… actually kind of fun! In a terrifying, life-threatening sort of way!” Elijah nodded, focusing on the heart of the enemy lines. The Shadow Conclave’s mages had been preparing an ambush, gathering dark energy to strike Eldoria itself. He channeled all four shards, creating a radiant vortex that dispersed their gathering magic, forcing them to retreat and regroup. One mage, cloaked in violet shadow, tried to escape, but a dragon’s tail swept him off his feet, sending him tumbling into a net of frozen energy. Elijah approached, the shards glowing brightly. “Your plots end here. Eldoria will not fall to shadows or secrecy.” The remaining members of the conclave scattered into the forest, their whispers echoing in the trees: “The Dragon King sees us… but he will not stop what is coming… patience is eternal…” Kael exhaled, wiping sweat and frost from his brow. “So… that’s it? First strike done?” Elijah’s gaze lingered on the shadows retreating into the distance. “For now. But this is only the beginning. The Shadow Conclave has been revealed. Their plans are no longer hidden. We have gained the advantage — but vigilance must never waver. We will follow them, uncover their motives, and ensure Eldoria’s safety.” Above, dragons roared in triumph, flames and frost arcs illuminating the forest canopy. The first strike had been successful, but Elijah knew the battle against the Shadow Conclave would be long, strategic, and demanding. Kael muttered with a grin, “You just can’t catch a break, can you?” Elijah smiled faintly, tightening the shards on his chest. “No, Kael. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Eldoria depends on us — and we will not fail.”
