A stranger sat at her table, claiming to be her soul mate. The young woman got up practically trembling, and her hands shaking, not understanding why he would say this to her. She didn’t know whether to speak to him, scream, or simply call the cops. She questioned his intentions, and he simply answered, “I saw you, mi amour, and I couldn’t resist.” He reached over the mahogany dinner table, trying to reach for her hand, and as he put his hand on top of hers, she screamed, jerked her hand away, and ran. He kept yelling, “Soy loco for you, darling!”. A man dressed in a black suit got up and went to the payphone; five minutes passed before the cops showed up. The police ran briskly into the restaurant, knocking over chairs and almost tripping some bystanders who were horrified. This Gordon Ramsay-based restaurant went into an absolute frenzy of gasps, screams, and brief laughter as the man had his face smashed into a bowl of the gourmet lobster bisque by a cop as the man's hands were cuffed together for he’d been arrested for verbal harassment. Later that night in his dark, eerie cell, with cobwebs and mice all around, a fair maiden came into the jail seeking him.
“James? Anyone with the last name James?” Rey stood up.
“Someone paid your bail. You're free to go.” Said the officer.
“Who is it?” he asked.
“I don’t know, just a fair maiden.”
Rey went out of the room and saw the woman who paid bail was also the one who ran away from him.
“I'm sorry,” she said. “My name is Rena.”
“Sorry? You get me arrested and all you say is ‘I’m sorry!” he yapped at her.
“Now wait one minute, that wasn’t me who called the cops; I don’t know who that was. I just saw you had gotten arrested, and I figured I would try to be nice. If you don’t want it, well then, suit yourself.”
“Wait, senorita! I’ll make a deal with you; the night is still fairly young, and it's Valentine's Day!”
She looked back at Rey, who was on his knees, his Eddie Guerrero-like puppy eyes as if to say, ‘Please get me out.’. She paid his bail, and he did exactly what he said he would. They had gone to another restaurant and eaten. The restaurant was so elegant, a dark atmosphere, with golden candles lit on the center of the red satin tablecloths. Rey stretched his hand across the table, waiting for her to grab his hand. She had grabbed onto his hand, his heart beating fast, not realizing until now how true love at first sight was. They exchanged glances, his deep brown eyes gazing over her big green eyes. The looks they gave each other showed everyone around them they were in true love, and no one could stop Rena and Rey from conquering their own world. Later that night, walking down the sidewalk, they looked over and saw an abandoned and almost haunted-like running track.
“Rena, I must tell you, though I have a bum leg from a motorcycle accident from when I was 18.”
“Oh, if you don’t want to, we don’t have to; I just thought…” He stopped her from talking and looked at her with dedication in his eyes.
“I said I had a bum leg, not a broken one.” They looked at each other with a big grin and ran across the street to the south side of the park to the track. Rena, who was significantly farther ahead, yelled back to Rey, “I used to be a track star!”. As they had made it to the track, Rena was jumping, trying to calm herself down as to the fact that she was hyper and quite giddy. Rey started to pace himself and bent out of breath, not only from running but also laughing as well at the comment Rena had made while running. While they had set themselves up to have another race, the same mysterious man who was at the restaurant was walking down the street only to see the fair maiden and the broad Latino running down a track. The man, who was wearing a black trench coat, went to a payphone across the track where Rena and Rey were and made a suspicious call.
They stopped running a bit so they could catch their breath, but with a devious look in Rena’s eye, Rey knew she wanted to go again. Suddenly hearing the sirens, they took off running away from the tracks. Rena, having been aware of Rey’s bum knee, took him by the hand to help him go a little faster. The cops took a chance at running after them; they saw they were hand in hand and took that as Rey was dragging Rena behind as if he was attempting to kidnap her. They jumped on Rey’s back, knocking him to the ground. Rena turned around and cried out.
