Piper’s pov…It’s been a week since I ran into the pirate at Sal’s shop and I was grateful not to see him again. I didn’t want to, but every night I’ve been dreaming about him no matter how hard I’ve tried not to, but I can’t let my grandma know; she hates pirates about as much as I do.	“Good morning, Grandma” I said smiling as I walked into our little kitchen to see her making breakfast.	“Good morning, Piper. Did you sleep okay?” she asked from her place at the stove.	“I did. I tossed and turned for a little bit, but that’s it.” I said, trying to keep my voice even so she wouldn’t pick up on the lie, but that was short lived.	“Something’s been off with you ever since you came back yesterday. What’s wrong?” she asked, placing a plate of sausage and eggs in front of me.&nbsp;	“I saw a pirate at Sal’s last week” I said, sighing in defeat as I looked up at my grandma Willow.	“What? Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked, looking at me concerned.	“Because nothing happened. He just happened to be at Sal’s the same time I was.” I said, eating my breakfast, but she just wouldn’t let it go.	“Dammit, Piper! What have I told you about staying away from them?” I had never heard my grandma sound like this.	“It wasn’t my fault! He was there before I was! How was I supposed to know he’d be there?!” I countered back at her, my breakfast forgotten.	“It doesn’t matter! You should have gone to a different shop or gone back later” she said sighing as she paced the kitchen.	“Why are you making such a big deal out of this? Nothing bad happened.” I kept saying, but she wasn’t having it.	“Something bad could have happened though! That’s what you’re not understanding!” she yelled at me as I just stared at her.	“I understand enough! I understand that mom and dad got killed because of pirates, but that doesn’t mean I want to hide for the rest of my life!” I yelled, grabbing my bag and stormed out of the house.	“Piper!” I heard my grandma yell after me, but I ignored her and just kept walking to the other end of town where my best friend Maria lives. I walked up to her door and knocked. She answered a few minutes later.	“How bad?” she asked, seeing the expression on my face and knew I had a fight with my grandma.	“Bad.” is all I said as I walked inside as she shut the door behind me.	“What was it about?” she asked as we walked into her kitchen and she got me a glass of water.	“I saw a pirate at the shop last week.” I said, sighing as I placed my chin in my hand.	“What?” she asked, looking at me like I was crazy “why didn’t you leave?” she asked and I looked at her like she was crazy.	“Why would I leave? He was harmless.” I said, looking at her like she’s lost her mind just like my grandma.	“They are dangerous even if they seem harmless,” she said, sitting down next to me “who knows what could have happened to you” she added.	“You sound like my grandma. Like I told her nothing happened and yes I know something could have happened, but it didn’t. I wish everyone would just calm down.” I said, taking a drink of water.	“You need to take this more seriously, Piper.” she said, looking at me concerned.	“Now you definitely sound like my grandma and I love you, Maria, but I don’t need another lecture.” I said, getting up and letting myself out. I didn’t look back when she yelled my name. I walked until I found a nice little shady tree to read under to pass the time until I figured my grandma was called down.	“I didn’t peg you as a reader, doll” I heard a voice come from in front of me.Hale’s pov…It’s been a week since we left port in search of whatever the fuck we are looking for this time around, but something’s been off since my talk with the Captain, but I’m not sure I want to put my finger on it. That’s when Weston broke the news to me.	“We’re going back to that town already?” I asked, looking at Weston as we stood on the bow part of the ship looking out at the sea.	“Yeah and don’t ask me why because I have no idea.” he said not looking at me.	“I wasn’t going to” I said, letting out a sigh.	“Yes, you were,” he said, looking at me as he turned and looked at me.	“You know what I’m not going to argue.” I said walking back down below deck and laid in my hammock. I don’t remember falling asleep, but I got woken up to Weston shaking my shoulder.	“Hey, Hale. We’ve anchored for the night” he said before walking back up to the main deck. I sat up and stretched and walked up the stairs to the main deck when I saw we were indeed in the same town we were a week ago. I saw Weston walking along the dock and I ran to catch up with him.	“Hey, Weston?! You said we were here for the night?” I asked when I finally caught up with him.	“Yep. You heard right and no I don’t know why we are docking here for the night either.” he said, curtly as he continued to walk leaving me stunned and looking after him.	“Well, then. Guess I’m on my own” I muttered to myself before I started walking the opposite way of Weston and I walked for I couldn’t tell you how long I walked before I saw a familiar girl sitting under a tree reading a book. I smirked to myself and snuck up to her before I said anything.	“I didn’t peg you as a reader, doll” I said smiling at her when she looked up from her book. “Hey, where are you going?” I asked as I followed her.	“Somewhere you’re not.” she said as she rounded a corner, but I grabbed her arm and pulled her with me into an alleyway.	“Hold on now. What did I do? ” I asked, looking at her	“I have a bad history with pirates, okay?” she said as she tried to slip past me, but I caged her in.	“I’m not going to hurt you” I said my face close to hers so anyone walking by wouldn’t notice it was her I was with.	“Look, I’m sure you’re not like other pirates, but I can’t do this,” she said, looking at me with a defeated look before walking away.	“Well, that could have gone better” I said, leaving the alley in the opposite direction of the mysterious girl.Captain Devlin’s pov…I’m not going to waste your time and do the whole ‘who am I’ bullshit because you learn by seeing. I’m not like everyone else in this story. I’m not going to bore you with my life story because that comes later, but anyway. I was in my quarters when a knock sounded on my door.	“Enter” I said, not looking up from the map I was looking at.	“Sir?” I heard Quill ask as he closed the door “I just saw Hale with a gypsy girl” he said walking towards my desk.	“Really now?” I asked, looking up at him intrigued. “So, that’s what he’s been hiding from us, dear Quill” I said, looking at the town through my open window.	“Yes, sir” he said, walking up to stand next to me.	“Do you know where in town they are?” I asked, looking at him.	“Somewhere in the middle of town at the moment, sir” he said as I looked, but there were too many people and I couldn’t find Hale.	“I’ll find him. Thank you, Quill” I said as I dismissed him from my quarters. I breathed in and out and called my faithful friend Hook, my faithful parrot. “Find me Hale, Hook” I whispered to him as he flew off and almost immediately found him with the girl Quill told me he was with. I tapped into Hook’s eyes and was able to see what he was seeing, which was Hale walking with the girl.	“That’s what you’ve been hiding from me” I said to myself as I continued to watch them together until they ducked into an alleyway, but Hook was still able to keep an eye on them, but I couldn’t hear what they were talking about. “That’s enough, Hook. You’ve done good.” I said, calling him back to me.&nbsp;Hale’s POV…I was walking to a local tavern when I looked back I could have sworn I saw a parrot flying away. I just shook my head and kept walking. When I got to the tavern I was shocked to see Weston at the bar, drinking. I shook my head and sat at the other end of the bar away from him.	“Brandy” I said to the bartender after I sat down and let out a sigh.	“Here you go” he said, placing my drink in front of me.	“Thanks” I said, taking a sip before out of the corner of my eye I saw Weston get up and walk over to me.	“Hale? Can we talk?” he asked, sitting next to me with his drink.	“Sure. What’s up?” I asked, keeping my eyes straight ahead.	“I’m sorry I got snippy with you, man” he said, looking at me.	“It’s okay, man” I said, offering a smile at him before I went back to my drink. We stayed and talked for a few hours before I had to help Weston back to the ship.Piper’s Pov…After walking away from the pirate I was hoping that no one saw us, even though our conversation was short I didn’t trust that rumors wouldn’t get back to my grandma. That was the last thing I needed, was her to be mad at me again, but when I got home I found our door kicked in and a sense of dread went down my spine.	“Grandma?” I yelled into the empty house, carefully picking my way over the wreckage of our house. “No” I cried, falling to my knees on the floor. I didn’t see the figure in the corner who was waiting for me.&nbsp;	“And here I thought I got rid of you a long time ago” he sneered before bending down to be eye level with me. For a moment I froze before gaining my courage back.	“You should really work on your aim” I spat back at him “Where’s my grandma?” I asked, looking at him.	“She’s right here” he said as two of his goonies brought her forward	“Grandma! What do you want with her?” I asked, looking at him with a scowl.	“I knew you would come home at some point, at least after your conversation with Hale, a member of my crew” he said, a sly smile appearing across his face.	“A very one sided conversation that I did not encourage” I said, my eyes flicking to my grandma who was not doing good at all. “Please let me help her” I pleaded, but I knew it was pointless.	“No can do sweetheart. I’ve come here to bargain” he said, but all I could do was look at my grandma, the only person I had left.	“It’s my time, sweet child.” she breathed, looking at me.	“No, please. I don’t want to be alone” I said, as the tears started falling.	“You’re never alone, Piper.” she said, I didn’t care that Devlin was there or what he would do to me. I ran to her and held her as she collapsed on my lap. I felt her slipping away from me, but not before she slipped me her necklace, the one she never took off. “Don’t ever take this off. With it I’ll always be with you” she said as she took her last breath and left me.	“No!” I said falling over her body and sobbed.	“Now that’s a shame” I heard Devlin say as I slipped the necklace on and tucked it inside my shirt.	“What do you want with me?” I asked standing up and looked him straight in the eyes “I’m of no use to you. I can’t do all the things my grandma did” I said my eyes never leaving his.	“No, but you can study and learn to do them,” Devlin said, walking towards me, nodding to all the books she kept.		“And if I refuse? You’ve already killed everyone I care about” I said, looking at him.	“Then you don’t have a reason to refuse.” he said, looking at me. I’ll give you time to collect what you’ll need” he said, as they walked out, but stopped in the yard and I knew I didn’t have a choice. I was going with them weather I wanted to or not.
