Hello, I am Pens&Keys. I am brand new literally just started here a hour ago. I am looking to build community, read stories and share my stories! Please feel free to introduce yourself and your stories.
Hi PensandKeys,
Nice to meet you. I am BillBow (Bill Bowler in full) and I joined Novelo recently, too.
I have entered a story of mine for the January challenge - 'Gold Bug Resolution' - and would appreciate some feedback on it. Do you have time to read it and to give me some comments on it before the end of January? I'd really appreciate that if you do.
The way I see it, it's important to network on Novelo, as in life. Ideally, I'd like to connect with like-minded writers on the platform so we can support each other and critique (in the most positive and productive way) each other's writing. I find it helps me to grow as a writer to get feedback. And reading and commenting on other people's writing can, I think, be pretty educational, too. What do you feel about these things?
Of course, initially, it can take courage to open yourself up to (even constructive) criticism. I know at first I never wanted to show my writing to others - it was more about me expressing myself on the page. But soon self-expression wasn't enough, and I wanted to send a message to other readers *through* the words on the page. That's when feedback from some trusted readers (who are also writers) started to become important to me.
What stage are you at in your development as a writer? Have you written any stories that you have posted on Novelo? Would you like me to read and give you positive feedback on them? Let me know, if so.
I think the monthly challenges are a good idea to get us into the habit of writing regularly. As I said, I entered the January one, and plan to do that in February, too. What about you? I figure that, if I write a story for each of the monthly challenges, I should have 12 stories written by the end of 2025!
What sort of stories do you like reading by the way? And what type of writing are you planning to do on Novelo? I'm curious.
Bill
