It’s New Year’s Eve and vegetarian Dickie Dashiell’s meat-eating younger son Tommo is driving from Barcelona to stay in the family villa just outside the village of Benihogar near Alicante, Spain. Dickie’s wife is simultaneously visiting their older son in Madrid. Dickie returns home in the afternoon in his late mother-in-law’s gold Volkswagen Beetle, bearing supplies of meat from the local supermarket.
