Author Paid Stories FAQs

Prices are set by the author of the story however Novelo will pay the author 35% of the story's listing price if it is between $0.99 and $1.99 and 80% if it is above $1.99. This royalty is calculated after Paypal, our Payment Service Provider, has taken their fee of 2.9% + 30¢ (Paypal might also charge a fee for cross-border transactions and/or currency conversion). For example, if you sell a story for $1.00, Paypal will take 33¢ and you will be awarded 24¢ (35% of the amount after Paypal has taken their share).

The minimum charge possible is $0.99 and there is no maximum charge limitation.

The only requirement is that you are the sole author/owner of the story. Right now we’re unable to offer paid stories written collaboratively due to technical limitations, but it is planned for the future.

Novelo uses Paypal as the payment provider.

Royalties will be paid to all authors at the beginning of every month. You can view more information regarding past and future payments here.

No, you will not be charged for a payout.

The Sales History page lists sales for all your paid stories, you can also click the sales analytics button for more information regarding each story’s sales.

Everyone who have purchased access to your Paid Story will still be able to access the story but will not be allowed to comment or review the story.

If the reader hasn’t accessed or read any chapters of the story that were not listed as previews, the reader may apply for a refund within 14 calendar days of purchase. If your story does not provide any preview chapters, readers will be entitled to a refund if the reader has only accessed at maximum two paid chapters or 10% of story. Once the refund request has been processed Novelo will inform the reader if the refund has been accepted and the cost of the story will be refunded to the purchased account, for the author of the story the amount is subtracted from your next Payout.
