It was just a dream
It was just a dream. The way his eyes sparkled in the moonlight. The way his kisses fluttered against my lips like a butterfly in the wind. The sweet sound of his voice in the wind. All a dream. Sometimes when I’m bored I’ll go back to the place I first found him, the land of the rested. And I’ll search for him in the trees, or in the river, or sometimes I’ll look for him in the field of tulips. When I find him he is always where I last left him. My heart will stutter like the first time I laid eyes on those beautiful, brown almond eyes. And I’ll feel weak in the knees as he reaches out his hand to grip mine. My breath leaving my body as he reaches up to brush the hair out of my face. I feel the jump of my heartbeat as I look at those beautiful lips, set perfectly on his chiseled face on his golden brown skin.
I anticipate those lips against mine once more, fluttering my eyes shut. But it never comes. I open my eyes and look around. In the wind I can still smell his cologne, and I can still hear his voice. Where has my lover gone? The tingle on my skin from where his fingers burned into me still fresh. The Fast murmur of my heart still thrumming against my chest. I run.
i run into the wind as I search for my Lover. I run as far as I can. Not caring for the burn of my lungs, or the ache of my legs. I want to find him. I need to find him. I feel mysel being pulled back, but I’m running against the force. I reach my hand out as the face of my nameless lover appears before me. As I’m pulled back into the world of reality, I hear a whisper. As soft as the kiss of a baby.
