When the room went dark, she heard her name. It was not like someone who would be behind you, it was more like she would stand in a valley, surrounded with mist and some echo of this voice. It was a sweet female voice, but still, it had something spooky to it.She was in this house several times and always found it a bit scary. It was one of the oldest in he street. Built between 1750 and 1800. Sometimes she would imagine some people are coming around the corner, dressed like in the Jane Austin novels.“Don’t be so silly! You are a grown woman. If some characters like that lived here, they are long gone!” she could here herself in her mind. She grabs her little handbag and tries to get her mobile phone, so she has at least the torch. “Thanks god I charged it, before I left the house” she thinks and in the next second. “Oh I forgot the power bank is still in my bag as well. As I know It is still has enough power to charge the mobile another time, just if I would need the torch longer.”Her friend lives on the third floor and told her, that the lift is not repaired yet. “So well”, she thinks and starts to light the way to the stairs. In this light, the stairway looks even more scary for a reason, or is it, that she heard the voice another time? “Edwina”. “Alright! I know it is Halloween and all that, but whoever is doing that, can you just stop that? You did a good job in scaring me. So whoever does that, please bring back the light and stop this now!” She just realised, that she said it loud. “Great, now I even start to talk with myself.” She turns around the next corner and as she sees the end of the stairs, she sees lights and hears some voices. “Hmm” she thinks “there is somewhere a little party. Might be that they did all this. It would not wonder me.” She continues to walk, until she comes to the door, which leads to the hallway of the third floor. She opens it and looks stunned into the hallway. The whole floor looks somehow different. Gaslights are along the way and the doors to every flat are open, but they do not really look like flats. They all look like big rooms. Women and men from their early 20th to around their 60s are changing rooms. All are dressed in costumes around 1800. “Well, seems like someone did a pretty good job, to change the apartments like this for one night, although it is a bit odd.”, she thinks. She continues to walk, until she stands at the flat of her friend, or better, what should be the flat of her friend. What she sees are people dancing to a little orchestra which is placed in the corner of it. She enters and was stunned. Somehow she liked it, but at the other hand, it was scary. And suddenly again: “Edwina”. It seems like, it comes from further down the hallway. “Damn, what shell I do?” Edwina takes her phone and scrolls to the name of her friend, as she presses the button for calling her, she only heard the mailbox from the company. “this number is no longer available”. “What the hell?” She looks at her phone. Soon she also had no connection anymore. She now looks around in the room and sees something, which looks like a bar. She walks there, because she wanted to be sure, to have the right address. Maybe she was so “mixed up”, that she walked into the wrong house? She waits until the other guests have what they wanted. At a quiet moment she walks to the bar tender and says: “Sorry Sir, can you tell me the address of this house?” The bar tender looks into her eyes, but he does not reply at all. “Sorry, but did you heard, what I said?” The bar tender just continues polishing some glasses and the next shock came, as some other guest went right to him, partly through her, like she would be transparent or something.Edwina tried to touch them, but could not do it. “Edwina”. She heard again. “No. this is impossible, what the hell?” It is the first time after a while, she felt dizzy, but a few second later, she felt fine again. It happened as the guest, who ordered drinks, went back to their places and walked partly through her again. She tries to touch the chair, the table, the glasses. All what happened is, that her hand went “through it” like it was a hologram. The only thing she realises is, that she always feels a dizziness, when she does it. “Edwina”. “Can you just stop that nonsense?!” she suddenly screamed. “Stop saying my name!” “Edwina, I do not want to harm you, but if you don’t stop fighting, I cannot manifest and help you.” “OK, this is getting ridicules! And who the hell you should be? And why helping me? Oh god! Am I dead???” The voice replies: “No, you are not. It is Halloween, did you forget that?” “Oh, the vail to the other world get thinner and so on?” “Exactly! You have a gift, but the modern people like you are fighting against it.” “The gift of talking with dead once? Thanks, not really on my pocket list.” “That does not matter. It is in the family. Forwarded from Generation to Generation. You mother fights against it as well I suppose.” “So it is from one female to the others?” And suddenly the mist gets more compact, and a young lady in her mid to end 20s stands in front of Edwina. She wears a dress, like all in the room, she just was in. She looks friendly and also beautiful. “Finally! God, you do not know, how terrible it is to be a “cloud-form” the whole time.” Edwina only stares at this red-haired woman. After a while she studders….”Who..who are you?” She stretches out her hand and says: “Hello Edwina, My name is Edwina Fitzgerald and I am your great, great, grandmother. This at the bar, is my husband, your great great grandfather.” “That is a really bad joke, is it not?” “Not that I know.” “But how,… Did I had an accident?” The young woman in the vintage clothes laughs. “No, you just have also the special gift. Sometimes it happens, for all when the vail between the worlds are thin, that you might get a glimpse in the past.” “And how terrible is it?” “You are only an observant. They do not recognise you, because you are not from their time, except, someone has the same gift. And well, my poor husband never had it, but was also not angry, as I finally opened up about it. At first he was stunned, but soon got very curious and well, with practice, he could realise some things, but never could do, what we are just doing.” “But how? Aren’t this all dead people? Should they not see me, because they are deceased?” “It is way more complicated, then you might think. Already in these times many were unaware of it and so, after death, they might be trapped in the time, were they were most happy.” “Well, if they celebrate all day, then it is not too bad, is it? But I thought I heard, you were around 80 as you passed away.” “Even 85 but my body was, not my soul.” “Which means?” “When you pass away, your soul or energy, which was the fuel for your body gets young again. It gets in this age, you were feeling all the time. Very rare people, for all in my time, felt as old as they were, when they passed. They always had still many tasks to do.” She looks around and finds an empty table. “Shall we go there?” “Don’t it will look funny, that you might talk to someone in an empty chair?” “They do not realise us.” “Alright, I am even more confused. Also about the fact, that when they are ghosts, why do the food and drink stay in them?” Her great great grandmother starts to laugh. “They are somehow trapped, but for them, it is, like it was back day. They have fun at this party, go home, everything you do as normal human. They do not realise that they are,…”dead?” She nods and says: “It is different, when you are not in that body anymore. Time and space never existed and now even less. We deceased (you only with a lot of practice) can jump from time frame to time frame, however we like and witness, if it was true, what they told us about Romans, or other cultures.” Edwina’s eyes are lighting up. “Really?” “Hey young lady, you do not do a stupid thing, only because of that. It is early enough, that you can Do that, what I just told you.” “It is a very f…. up time right now.” Then she looks a bit guilty about that word. Her ancestor laughs and says, “what do you think about us? That we were saints?” and she laughs again. Then she looks at her great great grand-kid and says: “Edwina, In fact we are not even so much different over time. Alright, maybe outside of our houses, but in our four walls, we did not too much different things, then you do now, except, watching TV and all the other modern things. Yes, we know about that, or how do you think, we sometimes mess up with electrical stuff?” After that sentence, even Edwina had to laugh. “Look, I only want you to go back to your time, because it needs a bit of training, to do that, but when you are able to do more travels in the dimensions, why not meeting up more often? I think you are a fine young woman.” Edwina looks a bit uncomfortable and says: “I do not think, that all are thinking like that. They all think, I am weird and they also let me feel it.” “Yes, I realised it and many of them are idiots. I told them already, but not all are like we are. Even when they are the “same blood”, we do not have to “stick to them” too tight. I know that people like you and I will always have more problems in their so called “normal world”, but is it really that normal? Watching hours after hours on a screen, doing some strange games, or whatever? Was my generation better? Hell no. We worked hard from morning until evening. With everything. And to forget it, most of them went drinking. So no, also not much better. But when we at least are now and then there for others, when they are in need, when we see and feel, who needs help and do not hesitate to do so, then my dear, it is already a little light out there, even in the darkest times. You are also often feeling alone, but you are not. I and my husband, we will always be here for backing you up, alright? I am really disappointed about some future relatives, but I do my best to help you. Not always so, that you can see me, but I am there.” Edwina has some tears in her eyes, because she feels, that it is time to part. “Oh, don’t cry. It is not too bad, alright?” Edwina’s great great grandmother gets up and says: “Let’s go to the corridor”. And both are passing some people again, who are dancing and laughing and soon are at the entrance or that room. Edwina steps outside and is suddenly in the hallway, she knows from all the previous visits before. Behind her a door opens and in the door stands her friend and the flat looks, like it always looked like before. “Sorry, she said. That damn thing should be really repaired already and now also the lights are giving in, it seems like. Are you alright Edwina? You look a bit lost?” “Well, I think it was only the darkness. I don’t know,…” “Oh, what a nice neckless you have in your hands. I never saw that on you". And Edwina looks at her hand, not believing what she sees.
