When she woke up , there were 17 voicemails from a stranger.
When Ava woke up she turned around to look at the time , there was just big red numbers on the alarm clock shows 7 : 42 am . Too late to go sleep again and too early to care . So she took her phone still tired eyes looking half closed I'm not a morning person. Then when she looked there's 17 voicemails that wasn't there , strange number, for a moment she was a bit scared She never gets voicemails. Who even send them nowadays and it's from a number that's not on my saved contacts list the first message was at 1 :13 and it read , Hey I don't know if I got the right number but I'm if this is Ava that lived at Cranbrook Lane please just leave a call . I think I might have something thats yours . After that message she got up straight on bed , Cranbrook Lane, that that was her childhood place the place she haven't thought about in years . Her family moved out of that house when she was 12 . From that that time she never went back there . Ava pressed the voicemail this is the second voicemail the message says : This is something you lost when you was 12 Ava , it's almost like this guy planned all this messages in order, he even says he know where I lived and the house I lived in . Did he perhaps stalk me he knows things I almost forgot about the voicemail keeps on playing " Remember when you had your initials made into the tree infront of your house ? Just for a second I couldn't breathe can't believe what I'm hearing , my old house my name A.L was always there but I didn't know that anyone would see it . Now she was thinking her mind was everywhere going to the next voicemail, hands being sweaty " I kept it safe for you all this year's " with a soft voice he says . I thought you gonna come back for it one a day but you didn't so I had to find you ." Ava paused the message just looking at the phone like it might hurt her . In her mind she thinks this might be a scam or a creepy stalker wanting details. But she kind of remember the little yellow old house this can't be coincidence. Another message there for her what's gonna happen next , she press play . " You left it behind in the attic he continues to say . " There's a box with a ribbon. Your grandmother gave it to you you don't know what's in there . At that time you were to young she felt it in her chest, she do remember a box looking old dust on nice design, hidden thing Granma had put away she had passed away. When she was 12 she didn't care much of it . "Why do you have it ? Ava talks to her herself in the empty room with a soft voice
the 6th voicemail sounds like he heard her . Because it's mine now but if you come get it it's yours . That's my rules , you left it here and I kept it for you ". Ava's heart beats she can hear it in her ears . She wanted to throw the phone but something kept her to listen. Another message"you know how valuable it is Ava . Not yet tho . But you will find out . The 10th message gave her shivers on her skin . I'm outside waiting." Her head against the window she imagines shadows but there's nothing she gets scared of the street light, but nothing moved outside. Still , the feeling of being watch came all over her she forced her herself to play the next one . " I know how your curtains look I know the sound of your floor when you get out of bed . I know how you leave your outside light on even when you forget everything else " . Her throat feels like it's closing. This message was worse . Don't be afraid I waited for this moment from the time you were 12. After the day I saw you leaving not looking back. Ava almost dropped the phone again her hands shook she wanna call the police but then what would she say ? that a stranger left 17 voicemails about my childhood memory? That he has something she lost ? Message 16 " You'll never know more about yourself until you open the box . Then finally message 17 . The voice went from soft to a whisper. I'm going to give it back to you tonight. Don't lock the doors. Putting the message off , it left her silenced that felt more then noise. She quickly moved pulling the curtains closed closing all windows checking again checking the door lock. If this was to be a game , she won't play by his rules she kept looking at the box outside but to scared to take a look at it trying to picture what could be inside it was impossible to go sleep again sitting on the edge of the bed , with the phone in her hand playing all the man's words
Ava looked outside for the last time and went outside, it's a small box with a ribbon it was the same box she remembers from her childhood, inside the box was her childhood scarf with flowers she remembers when it got lost , crying
It's grandma's gift to me under that was a big stack of photographs, Another one of her walking home from school bag looking too big for her shoulders in other picture her ridding her bike , she looked up at him and he smiled at said " I was your childhood friend but your forgot about me , Ava was in shock and emotional at the same time .
