Only she remembered what happened on her wedding. No one else.
She woke up in a hotel room, and from what she thought was a dream, but it was as real as herself. She looked to her left and her husband wasn’t there.
«Weird!» She said confused.
She went out of bed to look for her husband, but there was no sight of him.
She found herself in a wedding dress and she’s wearing a wedding ring. It couldn’t have been a dream. She knows it happened in real life, she’s certain of it and there ain’t no doubt about it. She is literally wearing proof: A wedding dress and a wedding ring. She really couldn’t believe it, but it’s real, yet she was confused about it. She tried to call her husband, it says that this number do not exist.
She took the elevator to the first floor and ran towards the reception.
«Hello? My husband is missing!» She said with a shaky voice.
«Ma’am, have you checked everywhere? Did you try to call him?» The receptionist asked as cool as a cucumber.
«It’s not like him to go anywhere in the morning before letting me know and it didn’t work calling him.» She said as anxious as before.
«Well, what’s his name?» The receptionist asked.
«Michael. Michael Carson.» She answered, trying to be calm.
The receptionist was typing fast on his keyboard, trying to figure out this situation.
«Unfortunately, there is no one named Michael Carson who has checked in here.» The receptionist said concerned.
«What? There must be some kind of mistake.» She said confused.
«No, no mistakes.» Said the receptionist, getting worried about the bride.
She wasn’t crazy, she couldn’t be. She knew it and the dress and her ring knew it.
«Okay, thanks!» She shouted as she ran out of the hotel.
She took a fifteen minutes cab to her husband’s place, and rang the doorbell. Guess who opened the door? It was her husband in the flesh.
«Michael, there you are.» She said relieved and as she went in for a hug, her husband blocked the hug.
«What are you doing here?» He asked, trying to be polite as possible.
«I was looking for you. It’s not like you to leave without saying anything.» She said.
«Leave? And why were you looking for me? I’ve been here the entire time, what do you mean?» He asked pretty confusingly.
«No, that’s not right. We got married yesterday, don’t you remember?» She asked seriously.
Judging by his look, he had no idea at all. She looked at his hand and saw a wedding ring then she took his hand in hers.
«Could you take it off?» She asked politely, badly wanting to convince him that they’re married.
«Why would I do that?» He asked curiously.
«Because our initials are engraved on our rings. Let me show you.» She said, beginning to get stressed.
She took off her ring and showed him her ring with both of their initials engraved on the inside. And she demanded to see his ring immediately or she wouldn’t leave him alone.
«Fine.» He said, all given up.
He showed her his ring, first thing she laid her eyes on were the initials and the heart, M heart M. Michael heart Melanie.
«See, they’re exactly alike.» She said happily.
Until she heard the familiar voice of a woman, behind him.
«Honey, who’s at the door so early?» The familiar woman’s voice asked.
«Just my ex about to leave, Michelle.» He said as he was shutting the door, right in her face.
«What? Ex? Michelle? My frenemy, Michelle? That can’t be right!» She said so quiet, but so confused.
«Is this some cruel joke?» She asked when she saw her husband making out with Michelle by the window.
So that’s what his M stood for. On the ring. Michelle not Melanie. Michael heart Michelle? This is a nightmare come true.
