As the sun crested the mountain peaks it shined down on a small group as they started slowing from their long night of running when they came upon a ravine with a surging river below and cliffs on either side. They were trapped with nowhere to go and then frantically looked around as the enemy crept closer and closer until they could see the fear and desperation in their eyes as the sun got higher in the sky. They thought it was going to be their last stand when the scout that was ahead of them burst through the bushes at the edge of the cliff. “Quickly, follow me,” she called and vanished back through them with the others close behind as the spears and arrows flew around them. As they ran through the bushes they came upon a precariously narrow trail when one of the members slipped on the loose gravel, almost falling into the surging river when his brother grabbed him by the collar pulling him to safety, and continued. As the goblins got closed in on them, they came upon a fallen log across the ravine and quickly crossed. As the last member ran across he called to the others, “Wait,” as he grabbed the log when the others quickly joined him, “come on push” he shouted as the arrows flew by them, he then screamed as an arrow pierced his shoulder but he continued pushing until the log plummeted into the ravine, causing the goblins that were crossing to fall into the surging river below screaming. As the arrows continued falling all around them, they ran into the forest of AshFyr, leaving the goblins cursing and shouting behind them. They ran for what seemed like miles when they finally came to a stop at a clearing with burning legs and trying to catch their breath. “That was close,” one of them said, panting and looking behind them where nothing could be seen or heard. “I think we finally lost them,” another member said, as he collapsed beneath an old mallorn tree while the others collapsed around him the scout sat down on a fallen log observing the unusual small group as a boy, girl, elves, dwarfs and a goblin looked at each other.
