The man she buried is back and knocking.
Cirie, a 28-year-old mother, was living her best life, until one night, everything came crashing down.
Thunder cracked like a painful whip in the night; the lightning roared louder than a lion fighting for food. She looked out the window waiting for her husband to come home. As the lightning flashed once again, she heard a little yell from the upstairs bedroom.
“Mommy!” yelled Amber in fear.
Cirie put her computer down and kinda smiled, knowing it was lightning and thunder scaring her little girl.
“Amber honey, its okay sugar, momma’s right here” she sat down on Amber’s bed and held her little girl in her arms cradling her scared 5-year-old baby.
“mommy?” said Amber laying her head against her mom’s chest.
“Yes baby?” still cradling Amber.
“When is daddy getting home?”
Cirie froze “I’m not sure baby.”
Cirie’s phone rang, causing them to both jump, Cirie didn’t recognize the number, but a sick feeling in her gut said to answer it.
“Mrs. Matty?” said an unfamiliar voice.
“Yes?” said Cirie, voice trembling
He gave the name of her husband, only known by his street name Mini Skittles, it was his daughter’s favorite candy.
Cirie gasped worrying what the unidentified voice was going to say.
“mommy?” whispered amber, seeing Cirie’s tears.
“shh baby… sir, what’s going on?”
Thunder cracked once again causing her daughter Amber to clutch onto her mother’s shirt.
“Ma’am, I’m afraid to be blunt with you on this topic…” suddenly a knock was at her door. The wind caused the branches to hit Ambers window, it seemed that tears from amber and Cirie were falling faster than the rain outside.
“Ma’am, as I was saying, I don’t want to be blunt, so” he said again with a creepy laugh, “Open the door.”
Cirie hid Amber in the bedroom Amber slept in.
“Mommy?” whisperd Amber through tears “What’s happening? I’m scared”
“I know baby, momma will figure out what’s happening.” Cirie said calming her daughter.
Cirie grabbed a knife from her kitchen and kept hearing knocking of the mysterious man.
As she hid the knife behind her back and opened the door to see the man smiling almost devilishly.
“What do you want.”
“Ma’am he’s dead. Car accident. Sorry I had to tell you like that; would you like to join?”
“What?” Cirie said, frightened.
The mysterious man replied, “Don’t you remember? I’m Amber’s father. You killed me in self-defense.” He said with a devious smile. “I remember that night very well Cirie. You killed me
Cirie pulled the knife from behind her. The man started to laugh.
“Cirie, listen. I just wanted what I was supposed to have!”
“What do you want from me you monster?” Cirie said with terror in her voice and tears in her eye.
Suddenly, she heard a scream. “Amber!” she looked back at the man who is still smiling.
“You beast, I swear you hurt my baby, I’ll kill you again. She was my light at the end of the tunnel when you hurt me, I was ready to end myself when I ended you, but I found out I was pregnant, and Amber was my light. I have no regrets ending you. And I won’t if I need to do it again.”
Cirie turned for a second to run upstairs to her scared child.
As she ran the man chased her, she kept the knife in her right hand and threw a pot at him with her left.
He tripped up a little from the pot, she opened ambers door and seen a man bloodied up in front of her daughters open closet door. Cirie tried to turn on a light in her daughter’s room, but the storm knocked the power off.
Amber continued sobbing, but the bloodied-up man just stood there, not moving as if to tell Cirie “I’m not going to hurt her.”.
The mysterious man caught up to Cirie and grabbed her from behind and was trying to strangle her. This is the first time the bloodied man had moved. But it wasn’t toward the little girl, it was toward Cirie and the mysterious man. Cirie was screaming, the two men were yelling, and Amber was sobbing. The bloodied man grabbed Cirie and practically threw her towards Amber’s bed.
“Take Amber and run baby!” said the bloodied man. Cirie realized the man standing over Amber before was her husband Mini Skittle, he was trying to protect Amber. As Cirie slammed the closet door behind her she held on to Amber tight while listening to the two men fighting.
“Mommy?”
“Yes, baby girl?”
“Was that dad?”
“Yes baby.”
Suddenly a crash sound rolled loudly down the stairs. Mini Skittle opened the closet door.
“I finished the job.” He said blood pouring down his face.
“He said you were dead.” Said Cirie with tears. She held Mini Skittles hand.
“I was. He killed me with his car. But I had a sensation saying I had to come help you.”
Suddenly a light flashed, and he disappeared.
“Mommy?” said Amber in a whisper.
“Yes Amber?”
“who’s my real dad?”
“It doesn't matter who it is biologically baby girl. What matters is who has been here. You’ll know the truth one day. But just know, Mini Skittle is your true dad because he loves you.”
Lightning flashed once again. Cirie shifted a little, but something was different. She was in her bed; she looked over and seen her room was empty. She heard Amber yell for her because the storm had frightened her. She seen the door open slightly and a man peep his head in with a smile, but that smile faded when he seen Cirie holding a lamp.
“Sugar what’s wrong? I’ll go check on Amber and I’ll be back.” He said.
He came back in with Amber holding his left hand, and a cup of tea in his right.
“Cirie baby, are you okay?” he asked with concern.
Cirie started to cry.
“Mommy, why are you crying?”
“Oh Skittle, you’re alive!” she said laying near him on him as he pulled her in close in a hug.
“Baby, I’ve been here all night. It’s okay sugar, it’s just a nightmare. You get the same nightmare every year this time. I got you baby.”
“It’s okay mama. Me and dad are safe.”
Cirie held both of them closely not wanting to let them go.
“I got you baby, I love you, were okay.” Said Skittle.
Amber fell asleep in their arms as the thunder rolled, but Cirie was calm, Mini Skittle and Amber were okay.
