Abi cried and said to herself almost in a whimpering tone “I-I need help.” A minute later Marie calls. Abi answers crying in hysterics and Marie grows concerned her voice “Abi! What’s wrong?”  Abi responds with a desperate tone “Marie, get me a rehab, please AA, something, I don’t wanna live like this! I’m miserable!”

Marie is relieved at the fact her sister wants help, “Abi, I’ll call around right now.”

Abi, who’s still crying says in a rasping voice deep in emotion, “thank you”.

Marie says with a softened voice, starting to choke “I love you, and you don’t know how happy I am, I didn’t want to see my older sister kill herself in partying and stuff. I love you so much and now- now I don’t have to be scared!”

Abi responds calmly still crying, “I love you too Marie! I’m so sorry.”

Three months later Abi was smiling more than she had in 3 years, she was going to her AA meetings, had gotten out of rehab clean, getting out more, clothes shopping with her 19-year-old sister Marie, getting coffee with her, and living her best life.

Abi even met a wonderful guy at an AA meeting, George Joseph. They talked a while and they exchanged numbers, a couple days later he called asking to go get coffee. They went out and had the time of their lives. A few weeks later, he was acting strange to her, when Abi confronted George, he got down on one knee and said “Abi, I never knew where my life would turn out, I was sleeping on the streets and gambling my life away, it was killing me, as soon as I heard your story, I knew I had finally met someone who would understand me, I couldn’t let that get away, Abi, I love you, and, I can see more than just a future with you, I see a life with you.” He grabbed her hand and pulled her close and kissed her. She smiled and looked at him, her eyes glistening. He got down on his knee, with her hand in his, and asked her in front of Marie “Abi, will you marry me?”.

She was shaken, but thrilled… “George, of course I’ll marry you, I love you too.”

They soon had a quick courthouse wedding due to not being able to afford a big wedding, later they moved into a small apartment and let Marie move in with them. Abi and Marie got jobs, and George became a freelance artist making huge money. They built up their accounts and saved enough money to finally discuss something they both wanted, a baby.

A month later, Abi discovered she was pregnant, and her and George were thrilled, they had saved enough to get the baby clothes, bed, everything for the little angel.  Eight months later, she had her baby. Abi and George decided to dedicate the baby’s middle name to Abi’s little sister Marie. They decided to name their daughter Sandra Marie Joeseph. They went home with their little girl in hand. Abi looked at George and whispered, “I wouldn’t be anywhere else right now.” He smiled and kissed Abi on the cheek and looked down at the baby girl she was holding. Marie looked at them and said, “Y’know, I’m proud of you both, I now have the best sister and brother-in-law, and now, I have a beautiful little niece to show for it.”.
