Ivan gathered his courage, and after a drink of the strongest vodka he could find, he went to the locker room where his friend was resting for the grand finale. Marcelo, as faithful as ever, was at his side. The room was immersed in silence, a ritualistic and sepulchral silence, which made Erik, lying with his eyes closed on the floor, manage to escape from all distractions, but Ivan would soon destroy all that heavenly peace with the bad news he brought.Ivan burst into the room, his face distorted and a bottle of whiskey in his hand. When Marcelo saw him arrive, he knew something was wrong.Erik felt his friend's presence and sat up to greet him.“Congratulations, Erik... You've done it.”“What's the matter? “ Marcelo hurriedly said without patience to wait.“What do you mean?” Ivan asked, pretending not to know what he meant.“They asked you to lose the fight, right?” Marcelo exclaimed bluntly, aware that Ivan had already sold them.Ivan was surprised by Marcelo's quick conclusion, but Marcelo was an old dog, he had seen everything in this sport and had the ability to see people just by observing them carefully.Erik, unable to believe what he was hearing, shot an accusing look at his friend that he could not stand. With his eyes drooping and lowering his gaze, Iván confirmed Marcelo's suspicions, very embarrassed, Iván didn't say anything, but it wasn't necessary.“Have you sold me?” Erik exclaimed full of rage.Iván only just lowered his gaze, that ended Erik's patience who without a word threw a strong hook at Ivan's jaw that knocked him to the ground, and it could have been worse if it were not for the intervention of Marcelo, who intervened by holding Erik so that the beating would not be greater.In tears, Iván stood up, hurting from the blow and trying to give explanations that he did not have.“Get out, I don't want to see you again!!” Erik exclaimed, beside himself, full of hatred, blinded by anger towards the one he considered his friend.“Don't you understand, Erik? I didn't come here to lose.!“You must do it Erik, it's just one fight, after this one many more will come.”"I told you that I am not going to give up for anyone.”At that very moment, Gatti, accompanied by three of his men burst into the dressing room, his intention was to check that they had reached a deal, but Erik was not as easy to tame as Ivan and that's where the real problems began."Congratulations on your tournament," Gatti said, addressing Erik, offering his hand so that he could shake it without answering.“I tell you now, pray that my opponent is better than me, because I am not going to throw this fight.”Gatti didn't like that at all, and he drastically changed his expression of cordiality for one of hatred that made Erik feel a chill."Don't play with me, boy. I've given you a chance, now you must pay me back.”"Fuck you!" That provoked the laughter of Gatti, who without a word took a pistol from his jacket pointing it at his fighter, who did not flinch. He closed his eyes and tried not to make his legs tremble, he did not want to show weakness, but he barely succeeded."You're going to go out there and do what I tell you, you know what I mean?" I want to hear it!”Erik didn't open his mouth, but he looked at his teammates who were terrified and for them, he nodded his head but not before fixing his gaze on Gatti's, who was beginning to feel some sympathy for that brave boy, but business was business, and all bets were in Erik's favor,&nbsp;which made betting against him the way to win a lot of money.&nbsp;"Don't worry, you'll get a good piece of this. You won't regret it.”With nothing more to say, Gatti left the place. Marcelo ran to help his pupil, who was blinded by rage, without a word, he went to the lockers and there he began to hit them with his fists, Marcelo ran to stop him, that would destroy his knuckles for the final, but Erik did not seem to care who ended up collapsing hating everything he once believed in.Ivan was left standing in the middle of the room, not knowing what to do, not knowing how to comfort his friend, wishing that none of this had happened, regretting leaving his village and his mother's house that September morning six years ago to conquer the world with his childhood friend...&nbsp;
