The frozen lake cracked beneath his feet. But a small crack like this won't do. Steel rods, bats or boulders were of no use against that ice.&lt;&lt;That witch is very powerful, how am i ever to compete?&gt;&gt;, Hektor murmured to himself, frustrated. His fists were clenched to his thighs and a mix of anger and desperation poured from his gaze. His breath was heavy and thick drops of sweat carved their way down his chin. He was determined to save her, but how? The only thing he knew was that he wouldn't give up that easily. It's been five days since he arrived in Thrapsanos, a small, insignificant village up in the mountains. He overheard some farmers in Yiannos' Inn discussing about the cursed lake there, that it completely froze overnight, in the middle of June. The clear, green, shiny lake had been chosen many generations ago as the most suitable location for the Summer Farmers' Festival that takes place every year and attracts merchants and costumers from the whole Minn region. However, they are seriously considering cancelling the Festival after the freezing of the lake. He gathered it wasn't a natural cause so he went fast to investigate. After leaving his coven, Hektor had it rough. Everyone hates witches, he knew that much is true. But he was convienced beyond doubt that he could change their mind, he could make them see exactly what magic is and how useful it can be to everyone. These exact thoughts had him out of the coven in the first place. He wasn't having the 'witch superiority' mindset that they try to impose on him. He always wanted to do something good with his powers, put them in good use for all, and not just for the craves and desires of the Master Warlock. But free thinking is not allowed in this coven. His parents are elite members, third place on the hierarchy chart, and he was born with everyone's unrealistically high expectations already resting on his tiny little shoulders. Naturally, the coven was shook to their core when he started expressing his different views and his parents were scolded for their poor witch-raising skills - for he was never seen as a son, but only as a witching workforce. However, mockery, robbery, bleeding and some broken bones is all he got for himself out in the big world by now. Hektor tried his best to be the man he opt to be. Did some healing spells here and there, got some coins for that, but, in general, he was always treated with scepticism at best. But he aspired to put his powers in good use, and practised hard, so now he has his eyes and ears open for every little opportunity he can get.
