The alarm wasn't supposed to go off yet. I thought I had more time.
"Damn it." I said it out loud. It was all her fault. If she hadn't tried to talk me out of it I wouldn't have wasted any time.
But she was the first one who actually tried to talk to me. To understand me.
"I wonder if she really meant it...." a voice said in my head.
Snap out of it! I'm sure she was just trying to buy herself some time.
"But she was so calm..." the voice said again. I agreed.
And her eyes... the way she stared at me was magical. I felt like someone was prying through my insides and seeing right through my bones all the way to my soul. In that moment was as if she knew everything that was and everything that is. We were connected. We were one.
For a few seconds I forgot what I had to do and when I remembered I almost gave it up. That's why I set up the alarm. If by the time the alarm went off I changed my mind then I wouldn't do it.
"Are you going to kill me?" That was the first thing she asked me.
"Yes." I replied. Her hands and feet were tied to the chair she was sitting. She closed her eyes and smiled. "Thank you."
I was used to begging and screams so I was surprised by her response.
"Aren't you scared?" I asked.
"A little bit. But that's normal. May I ask why?"
"Why what?" I said knowing full well what she meant. She stayed quiet just looking at me. I sighed. "Because doing it allows me to feel connected to my feelings. It satisfies my hunger. Then I can go back to being 'normal' again. At least for a while." I concluded. She was still quiet. As I was about to get ready for my ritual she spoke again.
"Do you have a wife? Or a family?"
'This is the part where they tell me they have kids and beg for their life' I thought. I shook my head. She continued. "Neither do I. I'm alone in this world. So right now all I have is you." I looked at her. Her eyes were deep blue like the bottom of the ocean. They were beautiful.
"Do you wanna run off somewhere together?" She suggested. I was very surprised.
"The truth is I had given up everything and was living my life on autopilot. I'm tired. I asked for a sign and then suddenly you kidnapped me and said you're going to kill me. Don't you see?"
"See what?" I asked.
"You and I are meant for each other." She was smiling. It almost felt like as if she was grateful that I kidnapped her.
"So I thought that maybe we could run away together." She continued. "Go on an adventure and after, when you're hungry, you can finally 'eat'."
For the first time in my life I felt desire for someone. This woman, this beautiful woman with long brown hair, saw what I was and still was willing to be with me. But did she meant it or was she just trying to confuse me? To buy herself some time and as soon as I let my guard down she would run off. What should I do. I thought.
I heard a sound. The alarm wasn't supposed to go off yet...
