The alarm wasn´t supposed to go off yet, it seemed like it was a minute ago when Daniel finally could shut his eyes and fall asleep. He had been working for two days non-stop to deliver that report that was giving him nightmares. He hated to work in that demanding company, but although that was everyday threatening about quit, he still had bills to pay.
Still sleepy, he checked his watch over the table, it was only one in the morning, in fact, he just had fallen asleep. Soon he realized it wasn´t the alarm what woke him up, but there was someone wildly knocking at the door of his apartment.
It was more than midnight and wasn´t expecting anyone. Whoever it was it could only be bad news.
He tried to ignore the knockings on the door, but it was impossible, the insistence of his unexpected visitor forced to jump out of the bed and check who was disturbing his rest.
He angrily opened the door ready to scold whoever who was hitting it with that insistence. For his surprise, his girlfriend Diana, was the person behind that havoc. They´ve been dating for two years already, but she never dared to take the step forward to move with him. She was still staying at her parents’ house, though, she often spends long periods of time with him.
She was a tiny brunette girl who always wore black clothes. She was not an extremely beautiful woman, although her face could have a certain grace when she did not abuse makeup, which she used to do very often.
They had met in line to buy tickets for a concert of rocker Johnny Brando, a star of the eighties who still had a large number of fans behind him.
That night, Diana didn't look good, her eyes were swollen from crying, and the mascara on her eyes had made a mess on her insignificant face.
“Why you turned your phone off?! I´ve been trying to reach you all night!”
“Is one AM in the morning, Diana. What are you doing here?”
Diana burst into the apartment with visible symptoms of having a nervous breakdown. Daniel closed the door behind her, seeking to calm her down.
Diana had a tendency to this type of attacks, she was a person with depressive tendencies, who easily fell into pits of bitterness and hopelessness. Daniel was the one who usually jumped into those wells to get her out of them.
“There´s something wrong, Diana?”
“You didn´t hear the news, don´t you?
“What news?”
“He´s gone, Dani, he´s gone.” -She said breaking down crying.
“Your grandpa?”
“No! Johnny! He has died!!”
“Johnny?! What Johnny?”
“What Johnny?! Are you fucking serious?! -She angrily yelled at him.
“Calm down! What is happening?!”
“Johnny, is gone forever. -She sobbed trying to articulate the words. -It was all over the news. I wanted to believe it was fake news. But seems it was real.”
“Brando… Johnny Brando, you mean? He´s dead?”
She was madly obsessed with the figure of Johnny Brando. Her admiration was not limited to simply listening to his songs, but she revered him as a god.
She held Daniel tight looking for some comfort.
“Johnny is gone. What are we going to do now?”
Daniel searched for the television remote control turning the television on. After a long time zigzagging through the television channels, he found one where they were confirming the death of the star
A reporter standing in front of the rocker mansion, confirms that the star has been found dead on his bathroom.
Diana couldn´t take it no more and switched the television off.
“What are we going to do with the tickets we purchased for his upcoming show in town?” -Was the first Daniel´s reaction after hearing the news.
“That´s your only concern now?! Those stupid tickets?!” - she reproached him, pushing him aggressively.
“Those tickets costed a fortune… Tomorrow morning, I´ll be calling the company to see if I can get a refund.”
“How can you be so insensitive?! You don´t care about his death?” -She insisted, aggressively putting on his face.
“Diana, I CARE, but life goes on! There´s bills to pay.” - while he grabbed her arms, preventing her from pushing him again. “Is not like the death of someone closer.”
“What are you saying?” - breaking away from his grip, to push him again. “He´s even more important to me!”
That statement made Diana show her peculiar face of disbelief, when her little world contradicted itself. She turned around with the intention of leaving, but Daniel grabbed her arm, not allowing her to leave.
“Let me go! Let me go!”
“Calm down, babe!”
“You lied to me! You don´t care about Johnny!”
“Johhny is not dead. He´ll never die! They live forever through their art!”
“Don't try to fool me with your talk!”
“I worked my ass off to save money for those tickets!”
“I´ll refund you myself if that´s what worries you!”
“Can you return to your senses?”
“Don´t treat me as if I were crazy!” -She warned him, pointing his finger at him.
“So don´t act as one!”
“I didn´t expect this from you.” -She switched her mood from anger to sadness.
“He was just a Rock star!!! Not a close friend with whom we´d hang out daily.”
“He was my whole life!” -Switching to anger again.
“Your wrong, his music, his legacy is your life. But you didn´t know the name behind the star.”
“I don´t want to hear you no more!” -She repeated one time after another, entering the bedroom where she sat on the edge of the bed, when she started to murmur to herself the lyrics of one of Brando´s most popular songs.- “My world, you were my whole world.”
Shaking his head, Daniel followed her to the room. He kneel right in front of her, and removing her hands off her ears, he kissed her in the lips in an attempt of calming her nerves.
“You are my whole world. You always were. You will always be” -He said to her repeating the lyrics of the song.
“If he wasn´t for him, we wouldn´t be together.” -She told him after seems to calm down.
“Wrong! He was just a consequence.”
“He was the reason why!! -She insisted, changing her mood again.
“We met in in a big line, while buying tickets for one of his concerts. -He remembered- But It could had happened anywhere else, any other time, and the spark between us would have been the same.”
“But it was there, and because of him!” -She kept insisting.
“I´m going to start thinking that you love him more than you ever loved me.”
She didn't answer but looked at him with a mean look that confirmed his suspicions.
Daniel sighed feeling downhearted. He had learned to live with her obsession for that singer that he also admired him, but never thought that she would openly admit that her love for the rock star was bigger than her love for him.
“To me, loving you has nothing to do with him.” -He told her, tired of this situation, feeling an ache in his heart. – “I love his music, but that´s got nothing to do with the deep love I feel towards you.”
“Don´t you understand? I can´t live life without him.”
Her sadness switched into madness, and she ran to a drawer in Daniel nightstand grabbing some scissors with which she tried to cut her veins, fortunately, Daniel quick reacted preventing from doing such a terrible act.
Frustrated by her failed attempt to take her own life, she lay on the bed crying, bursting out in tears, weeping like a little child.
Daniel reprimanded her grabbing her by the shoulders, violently shaking her.
“What´s wrong with you?! I gave you my everything! What is he giving you that I can´t?!”
“You´ll never be him.” -She yelled at him, while scratching his face. The only defense that Daniel was able to pull out in that situation was grabbing her tight on his arms. Paying that ingratitude and contempt with the only weapon he had, the deep love he felt for her.
Embracing, they fell together on the bed where she seemed to calm down.
“Why are you hurting me this way?” - He wanted to know in that trench of love that his arms had created.
“I can´t get over his death!” -She expressed still mourning.
“My love is not enough?”
“Hold me until is enough!” -She asked him, climbing over his body. Stripping off of her clothes, she asked him to posses her. He grabbed her small perky breast to then kiss them gently.
It didn't take long for them to anchor themselves inside each other. They sank into a dance of desperate passion to the rhythm of the hips of the girl who remained on top.
That manifestation of wounded passion lasted for half an hour. Their screams and hurtful words gave way to moans of pleasure, which ended in a unison scream that united them in a climax that culminated with them falling asleep embraced under the blankets, while the room was enveloped in the smell of their body fluids.
