The fire crackled, flames skipped around almost playfully on the smouldering logs. The howling outside appeared to be getting louder; it was almost as if her hearing was getting more sensitive. ‘I can’t remember what brought me to these woods,’ she told the man who was drinking his coffee with suspicious frown lines appearing on his forehead. ‘Damned if I know,’ he sneered. ‘Just another city woman. She really didn’t like him, and she really didn’t like the corpses he had displayed.
