In 1943 Hamburg, Sophie Bergmann, a Jewish teenager, finds solace and strength through swing dancing in the underground clubs of Nazi Germany. But one night, a raid led by fanatical Hitler Youth member Klaus Schmidt, shatters that refuge, forcing Sophie and her friends to flee. Just as they brace for capture, a strange, blinding light overtakes them, and they vanish from their own time.
When Sophie regains consciousness, she’s surrounded by the unfamiliar sights and sounds of modern-day Milwaukee. With her are four other teens from the club: Ruth, her best friend and fellow swing dancer; Maria, a quiet but defiant artist; Hans, who wrestles with his reluctant role in the Nazi Youth; and Klaus, who remains as fervent as ever in his radical beliefs. The alarm was not supposed to go off yet. Jake was absolutely certain the alarm was not supposed to go off yet. His eyes flicked to his watch, which moments ago had been flashing six fourty five. Seven. His bargain bin, navy blue wrist watch was now flashing seven o clock with the bright intensity of those neon pink signs advertising girls. The ones he walked past on his way to the bus stop every morning. It wasn’t possible, it shouldn’t be possible, and yet here it was. Glaringly obvious with the inane shrieking of his bedside clock. It was seven.
“You’re going to be late for school!” The voice which rattled up the stairs belonged to his mother. He should have told her. At the age of sixteen he still to this day told his mother everything. Not that he’d admit that if he was asked; it wasn’t cool to love your mom. But this one thing…. He didn’t think she’d believe it. Not because she wouldn’t believe him, of course she would. She’d believe him if he told her the sky was purple. But it was hard for him to imagine her believing him about this, mostly because he didn’t quite believe it himself.

This is a story about time from highly advanced civilization and ancient times. Here we learn about the struggle and fun two young adults encounter while navigating their lives at a completely different time, which they have never even heard of.
It is the final exam for the third-year students of Holistoric Reconstruction, and their professor, Richard Cardmen has taken them to Normandy to reconstruct the ancient landing. But perhaps the horrors of war are a little too gruesome for the young ones, so they got an alternate plan under their sleeves.
Hearing the train whistle, Faye panicked. Steam from the engine enveloped the station, blocking her view. Pelting forward, she grabbed the door and hauled herself inside. Fingers nearly slipped as blood stained the brass handle.
“I gotcha.” Hands grabbed her shoulders. “Looks like you need help, lass.”
