This is a teaser scene from a book that I'm beginning to write as part of my Archivist series. Currently titled "Redshift" this fourth installment explores an alternative history view of a Soviet style regime over North America. This scene is, currently, only for this contest, though I might include it into the final version of "Redshift" because I do like it's feel. It's presented as a stand-alone piece and it's final inclusion in "Redshift" will not include all of the world building details.
