I have written creatively for almost three decades. I started with short stories, poems, and song lyrics. I never took it seriously, though, until the COVID lockdowns when my youngest was doing virtual school. Sitting at home, making sure they stayed on task, I dug out an old short story I wrote in 1997. I tinkered with it and fleshed it out into a full-length novel. Doing this was the most rewarding "work" I'd ever done. I've been hammering out short stories, poems, and novel-length pieces since. I feel creative writing is my calling. I may not get paid for my labor (yet), but I still get to do what I am passionate about whenever I can.
