he thought it was their first date, she knew it was their anniversary. the year was 2016, James Jones sat in an old cafe booth, across from what he believed was the most breath-taking beauty he'd seen in in his 67 years of life. if he had the chance he'd make her his forever. and this lovely lady, named Lena Williams, 66 years old with silvering hair gleaming in the simple cafe light, she smiled at him, and for a reason he could not name it looked like a tired sad smile. And as for miss Lena, she knew things he didn't or rather remembered things he could not. but she spoke not of it.so, James went on and continued to speak to her"I trust you've been well Miss Williams?""Yes! I have been ever so great Mr. jones, I'm glad you have returned home well and safe, how was the trip back?"James gave a little shrug, "ah, those C-141s never were built for comfort, but it's all good now, nothing like good ole American soil."she smiled softly her eyes lighting up "I received your letters, and prayed for you often"James smiled, "say, would you mind if I might call you by your Christan name?"Lena nodded, "you may sir, as long as I may call you by yours"James slapped his hand lightly on the table, "why little lady, it's a done deal!" And it was with that nick name, that Lena smiled at the most, for it brought her back to nearly 50 years ago, right back to where it began.
